This will hopefully help someone else.
I fitted new handbrake shoes, no screeching. Followed the adjustment procedure in Bodsy's brake bible and Info from Disco_Mikey, so went ahead and started the bedding in procedure up and down the road. On the 5th go pulling the handbrake on, I got the dreaded screeching and bedding in procedure failed blah blah blah, flashing hand brake warning and handbrake fault on display
I presumed I would need to carry out the wind back procedure manually as I couldn't find any info of doing this with the IIDTool and also read somewhere on here from a diff post that Mikey said you couldn't use the IIDTool (only to unjam etc).
So I thought I would try the readjustment once again just it case the bedding in made the shoes settle in totally out of whack...
Jacked her back up. Ran the EPB module to the service position using the IIDTool again, and then redid the adjustment procedure and bedding procedure.
Screeching was finally gone after that. I recon that my hunch was correct and the adjustment must of gone out of whack (tolerance) when I was carrying out the bed in procedure.
8) 8) now to book her in for the mot

I used the information to successfully unjam the EPB in situ, adjusted up and working fine.

after 1st post sometime in 2013, it happened to my car in 2021 (LR4 v8 HSE). try to follow the step but stuck on below step "The cover is well glued on, and requires perseverance, and patience to remove", I am thiking to try harder but afraid will destroy the plastic box!
Any tips on this step?

I started at the bottom left with a large flat screwdriver and carefully levered against the serrated ring that holds the cable in.
Once there's a bit of movement apply leverage further up.
Patience will sort it out

EPB Hand Brake
Hello.
The EPB
Hand brake on my Disco 3 Started to scream when i put it on and then it would take god knows how long to to get it off so the week end job was to take it all a part. It has 100 000 on the clock so i put a order in to Maltings at Doncaster for 1 A repair kit for the EPB MOTOR
2 A SET OF Hand Brake Cables
3 A set of 4 Hand brake shoes
4 A set of rear Pads
5 2 new rear Disc
6 All other parts needed.
Working all day Saturday i found that the shaft in the gear box with the E clip on it had sheared so fitted the new parts. Set The Hand brake up has Bodsy s Brake Bible says/ A Big Thank You to Bodsy for his Brake Bible. Then put the hand Brake on its working went out in it the same night and the next morning all ok then back home Sunday 1-30 pm put the hand brake on and the Screaming is Back boy am i off. Next week end i will take the EPB gearbox out to see if it is the same shaft that has broken if so i will have a Brass one made. Please give me your Thoughts on this.

I had the EPB screeching issue etc etc, so I got my local garage to firstly to a gearbox rebuild and replace the cables. That stopped the awful noise, but then the unit wouldn't move the cables/brakes. So replaced the motor as well. Still the same. They said they suspected the control board after that, so didn't charge be for any workshop time.
Took it to Woolston motors in Rugby (apparently a 4x4 specialist). They diagnosed the control board, so a new unit was put in. Oh my god.
£1468 bill!!
But the brake is now nice and quiet and it works correctly. And I'm skint.

Has anyone actually managed to do this on the driveway at home?
My EPB got stuck on so I had to pull the cable, but I've got the rear jacked up wheels off and there doesn't seem to be access to the module, I can just see it but no hope of reaching it with the exhaust and diff still in place.
Any hints?

Yes,you can do it,it's a pain though. I did it on my drive,still doing it!! Take off the shield/mount and twist it towards where the spare will sits,makes it easier to access things

Sorry to double post but in case I don't get no pictures...
The guides I saw,had you laid under the disco, obviously safely, with your head towards the engine and your feet towards the boot. The way I did it I was able to jack the car up and sit cross-legged in the space where the spare wheel was, it's so much easier. If I remember correctly all I did was disconnect the electrical connection and spin it 180 degrees towards me. That way you can get to the torx screws easier and take the cover off,and fiddle with it. Also,when my cover was off,I used some wires hooked to the disconnected battery,with a switch and gave power to the EPB's motor. Making rewinding it easier. Don't know how acceptable that method is but it helped me!

Thanks for your advice, this defo sounds like an easier way to access the module than doing it from the other side, going to attempt to do it myself this week in the cold and dark

So attempted to try and access my epb module from the spare wheel well today, but the rear of mine is different to every video I've watch, for some reason mine has a much smaller hole in the welded metal plate thats above the spare wheel.
Mines a 2009 so I'm guessing this is something they changed for later models, either way it's making it way more difficult to access the module!

Just as an FYI for anyone that might need to know, if there is limited access on your you car like there was on my 2009 it is still possible to unbolt the steel mounting plate that the EPB module mounts to and you can just above fit it out of the right hand side.
Then the rest of the process of flipping the module over to unjam it is the same albiet it's much more difficult to get your arms in!
Mines all back together now and does seem to be behaving.
