Towing cover thumbwheels
I've seen posts from a few members who have modified the half-turn fasteners that hold the towing electrics cover in position such that the fasteners can be hand-turned. I decided to go slightly over the top with a similar solution and design a 'thumbwheel' fastener than can be 3D printed:
This makes it easy to detatch the plate when required. The design file is uploaded to Thingiverse so that anyone can download and print their own set: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1711927
Hope this is useful for someone else.

I like it.
I don't have a 3D printer though.

This is one of those mods that's so simple that it really should be a standard detail.
I made my own, which I've just transferred from my D3 to our new D4. If I'd had access to the right equipment though, I would have made knurled knobs like those in the OP.

What did you make it from?
You can download the files and send to a printing hub to have made, see www.3dhubs.com
The cheapest make from PLA but it says it's a little brittleSill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Is it really such a 'necessary' mod
I'd have thought more ''nickable' with turn-wheels on or bright yellow? Can't say I've ever found myself scratching my head wondering how I'm going to get that 'really awkward 1/4 turn plastic thingy' off.....
Seems more of a case of 'because I can' than a real necessity?
