2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3
Upgrading to CC on Disco 4

Hi

Am looking to upgrade from my manual 2005 Disco 3 S to a Disco 4 GS manual 2010. The thing i really need is Cruise Control. How easy is it to upgrade please and what kind of price am I looking at.

Also it will be the 2.7 engine, but as an early 4 will it still have all the difference in it that the 4 brings or was the early 4's just a rebadged and made over D3

Last question i thought all D4 came with DAB but can't find a definite statement.

Any other thoughts and comments welcome Thumbs Up

Thanks

Paul

welcome (almost) to the D3.5 club Laughing

CC is very easy to fit ..... contact TLO here on the forum for the switches, he'll be the easiest & most likely the cheapest. They plug straight in on the steering wheel, easy to fit yourself as long as you're careful with airbag. Enabling it will require somebody with a computer & the relevant software. Geoff (also here on the forum) in Sussex did mine in about 15mins, there's bound to be someone in your part of the world who can do it, you need Autologic or Faultmate

I have been told by a LR Assistance techie that the D4 2.7 ran different ECU settings to the D3 with the same engine and it is an improvement. My experience certainly backs this up but I have no proof of this information. If you like it's a slight upgrade but it's not the kind of improvement that the 3L is Bow down

No, all D4's did not come with DAB ...... unless your's has LR Satnav but even then I'm not sure they all had it.

A lot of people on here will try to put you off, mainly due to the manual gearbox. I've had mine for nearly 3yrs, it's a 2010 like yours, and I love it. The interior is much nicer in my opinion than the D3. I wanted a modified car, I was initially looking at 2008 D3 G4's but found I could buy my D4 and add all the toys I wanted & still have some change from my budget.

No it hasn't got Satnav, no it hasn't got leather, sunroofs etc etc ..... owners of posher D4's will give you a long list of the stuff it hasn't got but it's still a genuine D4 and an improvement on the D3. I am not dissing the D3 at all but as with all new models it is an improvement, lets face it car makers wouldn't bother bringing out a new car unless it was better than the last.

Welcome Thumbs Up
 Nick

I'm waiting to pick up my 12MY GS, it is a lower spec than my current Fl2 but most of the things on it I've never used, with exception of the CC and heated steering wheel, these will be getting fitted through time.

D4 2.7 GS

Hi, I tested the D3 XS and the next day a D4 GS, both 2.7 but the D4 was in my opinion far superior

I had CC fitted (cant live without it) and enabled by Geoff. in Kent, Autologic does not enable it (my local garage tried) you need faultmate.

I have heated cloth seats (warmer than leather) heated front screen, Bluetooth

The only thing I don't have is sat nav but I am fitting one in the center panel

I seem to be getting between 31 and 32 mpg with general driving which im quite impressed with as well as I was expecting 25 - 27

2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Thanks all for your advice, especially Nick for that lenghty and appreciated update. I have found a few D4 GS manuals and now really considering what to do. Really like the fact that i can have the superior d4 with a manual box.

Wll keep you updated with the next move. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

No, the diagnostic kit capable of altering the car's CCF is confined to that of Land Rover specific diagnostic kit

....go for 3.0... if you want to see real change Thumbs Up but for that, unfortunately, you'll have to live with an auto box Big Cry

!!! wonderful car that we are missing by not being able to enjoy a d4 with 255 hp and manual transmission !!! Evil or Very Mad
