Is this a 'fit and forget' camera in that you could plug into rear 12v socket and mount on back window then it will automatically record on power up and stop on power off ? Thus recording all your journeys ? SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Been playing about a little more today,can't figure out how to get time and date stamp on vid i can only do it in HD mode.By the way the quality in HD is brill  . I've also sent off for one of these longer than the one supplied so i can hide wire all way round windscreen i beleive its call USB to Mini USB theirs a couple of different sorts but going off the pic this is the one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3M-HIGH-SPEED-USB-2-...1195408579 EDIT=  Can't beleive some of things i say to myself when driving just played a clip back and very funny!

Tried mine in 640 x 480 and i cant get a date & time display either ... 702P upwards and its there. I am sure when i first got it did it in all resolution modes  , maybe a call to 7Dayshop required.

Guys mine shows the date and time when in low res..
I have hidden my cable under the roof lining and the supply comes out just above the rear view mirror it then runs down the drivers door pillar in to the supply. I have also fed a video feed to my GVIF unit and can select the camera to make sure it recording again hidden the video cable down the passenger side door pillar.
This camera is a great buy for what it cost......

In preparation for my replacement soon, I was thinking of doing something similar. Where are you getting the supply from? Don't suppose there's any permanent 12v near the interior light?

Oh .... 7dayshop want me to return mine due to the date time display issue - gotta say that was less than an hour to respond 
Now whats the betting if I do something will happen that would have been caught on camera if I had it in the car 
Do I or don't I ?????

I ran a supply from the cigarette lighter feed to a lighter socket that the camera plugs in to under the panel near at the drivers knees, I don't have a permanent feed to my camera.

Ok i got time and date stamp working now on 720 size but still not the 640 but i can live with that. can anyone tell me what "loop rec" does and "loop time"? Still chuffed to bits with this for 26 quid

Loop Rec - means the camera will carry on recording when your card's full by overwriting the oldest files first. This should be "on" or it will just stop when the SD cards full. Loop Time - is how often you want the camera to run before it closes each file and starts a new one. I had mine set to 5 mins but all depends how big you want each file? (Large files are slightly more risky if anything should become corrupt and smaller files are easier to manage on old/slow computers)
If all's set right, you should end up with a card that's always full of 5 minute clips

It's interesting that they claim it will do 15 min clips but in reality it's does not ...... May well pass on the low res date & time facility and stick to 720 upwards.

No problem with mine using the 7dayshop 32Gb card and now have nearly 10 hours recording time, also have no problem with date and time displayed in 640x480 mode, works every time

Mines on it's way back for a replacement ......
Can other folk do a check on their footage for continuity - picked up that possibly when the SD card is full and in loop record there appears to be a 5 min lull before it resumes recording by deleting the oldest recording , only picked up on it by accident whilst watching a succession of footage taken over 4 hours when SWIMBO borrowed the D3 .....sods law will say that something will happen in that missing 5 mins

Did you check that you was not zoomed in, in low res mode, if you press the up / down buttons it zooms the picture if you have this set it will cut the bottom off the picture and hide the time & date...
