Wade military roads..scotland.....
found this very interesting ..but are they drivable..legally????

Legal opinion may remain divided, but I believe the main off road section (Corriairyack or something like that) has been physically barred for well over 10yrs

Many of these military (built) roads are legally drivable since over time they have been upgraded and now are the local highway. Frequently in the news when the "modern" road is swept by avalanches is the old military road through Glen Croe, now used as a divertion route for all traffic. Its importance is shown by there being messages on the motorway gantries "Old Military Road Open".A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I drove the Corrieairyack (sp) in 2006. Up to the summit and back. I’m not sure if we should have done it, but we didn’t know otherwise at the time.
It’s at spectacular drive. If ever you get the chance to drive it legally, then do it.
Back in 1969 - when the road was not as old and one could drive right through . . .

The last part of text route directions for tourists is often a bit confusing for them:
"Follow A87
Turn left from A87 onto Old Military Road.
Turn right from Old Military Road onto Old Military Road.
Much of the A87 is, of course, "Old Military Road" itself.
There was a lot of work that went on up at Corrieyairack 5 or so years ago when they put it huge new electricity transmission towers.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto
