[Wanted] Twin battery charging system

Looking too add a second battery to my D3 so any useful bit's and bobs to help would be appreciated.
I can arrange a courier to collect but will need the weight and size or obviously you can send it and charge me the costs.
Thanks
Pete

Hi Trucks,
Pretty cheap on eBay, they come as full kits also, I’m just in the middle of fitting this one but plenty to choose from

That was quick and thank you, looks simple enough to do and have read loads on here and there are some certainly flashy kits and extras they have fitted.
Are you fitting a battery monitor for viewing on the dash somewhere.
Regards
Pete

Im fitting a duel voltage display on the dash and another in the boot, I’m documenting everything in another post

Was pretty simple to fit on its own and the 2m kit was a perfect fit

if you use 2 starter battery's this design will work

if one is a leisure battery, and it should be, regarding the needs/use it will work but not to a full potential, even destroy a leisure battery early...

only an DC--> DC charger will do the job proper
 Best regards
Harold

Thank you
I did read about twin starter battery system but I do not want this system ,I read that as you said the other battery would be used as a leisure battery for interior lights and cigarette plug in devices so as not to drain the main battery when the ignition is off.
I also read about the twin charging system will automatically decides when to charge the batteries and switch over automatically to the leisure battery when ignition gets turned off.
The more I read the more it seems to get me confused on the items I need .
The most basic system with the operating areas as mentioned above would be the way forward for me,hence asking on the forum hoping someone might have a redundant system somewhere.
Thanks
Pete

i try to make it simple

starter battery's are designed to give a quick extreme OEMPH of power in a very short time. (starting).. when they do, they need to be charged very soon after the drainage, otherwise the will be sulfated
and are a buffer, when the engine is running at idle, to keep the lights on and the the engine on..

nothing more...

leuisure or auxillary batterys are designed for steady power drain for longer periods and are more deep cycle resistant... (contain more lead) so more expensive

there fore they need different charging curves....

the simple systems incl t-max etc... measure at the starter battery to decide if "they"are full...

but "full" is different for a starter vs a auxillary battery, there for you need a DC->DC charger who charges both a they need....
 Best regards
Harold

Thanks for the link and the advice all taken on board.
I will keep you up to date when I decide to buy something.
Seems the best purchase would be a canoe at the moment with this weather.
Thanks

I've got a full setup system i brought 2 weeks ago and havn't had time to install it, now am moving house and wont have time for another few weeks - T max duel charge setup and a varta second battery - biggest i could fit.

I went for T max as you get on the fly info on your batterys and charging status and can auto link them. you never know what is happening with systems without an incab display.

Would let it go for the cost to me and i would knock off your delivery cost.

Watched video it was very informative and he is a very knowledgeably chap.
Somewhat frustrated at peoples misunderstanding of the charging requirements of twin battery system's ,also wherever he is explaining things in some African or other desert area,it would be the last place i would want to have battery problems.
Thanks
Pete
