Warning lights, some faults and a non-starting Disco 3

Hi everybody,

Our Discovery took us through our holiday without an issue(*) and right then, after a weekend in the woods, it started acting up:

Suddenly, the car would not start, door locks audibly operating twice, radio, clock and temperature failed and a plethora of faults came up.

After letting powering down and after 10 min it would start just fine and run without any issue.
The same and the following day, this behaviour occurred more frequently and while driving. Now it is almost constant.
WHEN the car starts, however, it works and the suspension is ok. Just hazards and powered down accessories.

The fault codes that come up and stay after clearing are:

Steering angle:
U0122-87 (2F) Lost communication with vehicle dynamics module - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message

Transfer case:
U0155-87 (2F) LCD Gauge Communication Lost - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message

Transmission:
U0155-87 (2F) LCD Gauge Communication Lost - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message

So, seems to be MS-CAN related.

Any ideas?
Am I right to suspect (a) the instrument cluster, (b) its connector or (c) an earth point?
Could there be a connection to my clonking sound described below?

Thanks!

Voltage should be good, i run a double battery system and there is no change after linking prior to startup.

(*) except for a disturbing clonking sound presumably coming from the front left (driver side, as it is a LHD), which has always occurred before when driving off with the wheel fully turned to the left. This worsened over the last weeks.
Also, the DSC came on twice and unexpectedly in somewhat tight left turns but this may be due to the roof rack and the roof top tent.

"U" codes are all information codes and as such not really fault codes. Probably check the battery voltage

Thanks! It does not seem to be the battery, however, but the MS-CAN-Bus shutting down.
This, to my knowledge, ONLY produces U-codes. So yes: U Codes in combination with other fault codes are usually just a result of said other faults but not in this case (unfortunately?).

Will have it at the specialist‘s workshop tomorrow and post an update as soon as I have it back.

In my recent case, those canbus problems were caused by a loose connector on the E-diff. A rattle check of the connectors in that canbus circuit may yield dividends and possibly save you some money.

Thanks! The instrument cluster was at fault. Had it replaced - all good now.
