I have high hopes that the dealer has cracked it this time. Going back years, I have had very occasional EPB erros on the dash, which normally occurred when going through deep fords. These didn't bother me much and it was too intermittent to be able to get the dealer to diagnose.
Fortunately / unfortunately, the issue became much more common in the last couple of weeks, and the dealer took another look and has diagnosed a fix involving an EPB harness overlay. The EPB harness overlay was part of the enhancement program, but this was never applied to my vehicle because it is just outside the VIN range. However, my wiring harness has exactly the issue that the overlay fixes - water getting in to the loom, corroded wires, intermittent EPB errors on the dash.
They've also fettled a corroded wire in the front N/S wheel arch which was giving me the 'Suspension Fault, Normal Height Only' message.
That's now three wiring loom issues I've had (the other was at the switch end of the EPB, under the centre console), and a bit of a worry for the future, given the number of wires the D3 has... How difficult are these errors going to be to diagnose and fix myself when its out of warranty and I can't afford to pay main dealer workshop rates?

Good to hear I'm not the only one with a Normal Height only fault! Off to the stealer to fix, one of a dozen faults to fix score the warranty runs out.

bobbycrispbox, good point, perhaps we all could chip in and come up
with some sort of DIY check list. You know basic things, like plug
connectors, common chaffed wiring, where corroded wires are found,
etc. We are aware that systems are linked to each other, start with
what we are shown as a fault on the dash, and work from there.
A very simple view I know but can be good in long run.D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

The good news is that the wiring failures seem to be happening in the same places - epb harness, and front lh wheel arch. So at least they are predictable. We have also heard of a few chaffed looms behind the front bumper.

my recent fuel gauge fault was due to a chaffed harness (on the chassis) in the front wheel arch
apparently the cables are now re-routed

All but the front fog light harness issue have been dealt with by the re-designed chassis loom fitted to 07MY and onwards, pre 07MY harness issues are as Gareth says, in known locations and circuits
There is a small chance of wiring issues where the loom is located in the LHS front wheelarch, basically, the latent heat from the turbo can cause the plasticiser to leach out of the wiring insulation causing it to become brittle, with the longitudinal contraction & expansion of the copper, this can cause fractures in the insulation allowing moisture to be drawn along the wiring by capillary action leading to corrosion and resultant faults. Because of their relatively small CSA, signal wires are the first to fail... such as wheel speed sensor circuits

hi guys i know theres a chafing point in the NSF wheel arch, where the three connectors fronm the body meet the chassis harness (on the chassis side) a couple of lives often chafe on the bolt on out rigger behind the front mudflaps, also, the live to the EPB ECU doesn't chafe but just goes to the dark side and goes all green and furry like a dyed kitten, hope this helps, Richh.
