Xenon afh lights other cars think high beam is on |
|
Hi
Just fitted adaptive headlights as they were none adaptive when I got the car. They are new oem and much brighter than the ones they replaced
So I’ve just driven about 30 miles tonight in the dark and was flashed about 6 or 7 times as most people thought my main beam was on. The lights seem really high as they light up the road a really long way and road signs are very reflective back
I assumed there would be a height adjustment but can’t find one is that the case if not how do you adjust the height.
When turning the lights on they do a left right dance but not up and down
My old car a outlander did left right up and down.
Cheers Jon.

Search for headlamps adjustment.
There are 2 adjuster for each lamp, up down and left right.
You need a long Allen key or screwdriver

There are 2 adjusters on the back of each headlight. They are diagonally opposite each other, one at the top and the other at the bottom. They are a little white plastic adjuster that takes a 5mm allen key I think.Good luck!

This is an MOT failure fault, take it to someone with the correct alignment equipment for the sake of a tenner It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

check you pushed the bottom corners back enough to get locked in place by the sliders. A friend of mine managed to refit the lamp units with one sat forward of the slider. It doesn't look too wrong at first glance but means the lights are pointed skywards. .

Hi Jon,
Just one other thought on this, there is a process the lamps go through to position themselves when you turn them on on the D3 so I assume the AFS function on the D4 14MY is the same. This is driven by the setup in configured on the BCM and lighting config files. Do you have an IID to check what is configured, it could be that the lights are correct and wiring is OK but the car is wrongly configured so some of the settings are for AFS lights and some not.
Another potential issue is that someone has not wired the AFS lighting, or has disconnected it to try to get around issues with the lights not being AFS that were fitted after the accident or they have done a loom repair on the front if the car was in a front end crash.
If you are ever near Lincoln I don't have a problem plugging in my IID if you want to see and get a copy the config on the car - mines not a PRO so I can't modify the files for you but don't have an issue meeting you to read the config and give you a copy of the info in the relevant sections.
There are plenty of people on here who can confirm the exact config needed for AFS to work, and it might be a simple software change to get things working. Must stop buying shiny toys....

Hi thanks for the reply
I’ve just received one today as I want to switch off the tpms for the spare wheel
How would I check the log /config?
I had the car checked before I bought it and tbh the lights were checked, and wiring looms seems ok.
I’m booked into a local garage to check heights do the light go up and dow or just left to right on the disco 4
