The main issue I see is that there is no alternative way to get to London via public transport unless you live in a large city or town already - and then you probably don't have a car
The cost is ridiculous for one person but to take a family the cost and hassle would be enormous.
Looks like Chinese New Year, Xmas, Shopping trips, museum trips etc for the lid will have to be curtailed.
I drive into London every day but I will probably be paying less because Livingston has cut the time the charge runs from 6.30 pm to 6.00 pm - I tend to drive in at 6.15 pm! Loving the power of the TDV8!
is it still the case that LPG ? dual fuel cars don't pay the congestion charge??
buy a V8 £3000 LPG conversion 1/2 the fuel costs no charge,
the closest thing we have to congestion here is when the sheep get out, i sat in a 'traffic jam of 3 cars this morning all because of sheep. Lakeland Land Rover

Yes, I believe LPG cars still get in for free. A 110 V8 would be very nice...No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!

We've tried that. He still got in again. Mainly because he didn't say anything about the K&C extension or rises in the charge during his election campaign. Hopefully, people will have learned by the time he comes up for re-election and one of the other candidates will have the teeth to take him on. I hear that Nick Ferrari is being considered by the Conservative Party as their candidate. For those who don't know of him he is a radio talk presenter on LBC. He was also lined up to run the Express Newspapers evening paper. He is very outspoken and speaks well. He knows his stuff and will give Ken a good fight, the only problem is that he probablt wont fit the Conservatives party's new image. Getting Ken out will be very difficult - the vast majority of his voters are too stupid to vote for anything else, they have no idea of politics, tax, etc - all they care about is their handouts. Loving the power of the TDV8!

It wouldn't be that drastic if you live in K&C. You're talking about £125 a week to keep a D3. Maybe residents could get together to form a cab company for everybody to join. Insurance goes up, two MOT's to pay for, but nothing close to £125 a week. And there'd be no advertising costs for the 'cab' company.

But I thought that paying the road fund license allowed us the right to drive unhindered on Britain's highways ???
Also do we not have a constitutional right to traverse our capitol without paying a toll ? Which this effectively is.

Yes we do have rights. But Red Ken is not a big fan of them. Like the right to overwhelmingly reject the CC extension via a consultation, which he was not 'minded to listen to'; like the right he has to abuse journalists because of their religion, and get away with it.
Don't worry; if enough of us who actually pay tax and council tax leave London, all that will be left are those that don't pay tax or get their council tax paid by central government, leaving London a city funded by government handouts and a ghetto.No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!
