Back to dealers for the 5th time since purchase 3 months ago |
|
As above. This time a wheel bearing apparently (huge grinding noise while driving along). Last 3 times it was brakes, time before anti roll bar bushes, time before egr valves. Each time it's in it's huge inconvenience for me and my family (as I get a 5 seat courtesy car and I need at least 6 seats) plus it gives me even less faith in the car. It's the most trouble I have ever had with a car. Any advice ? It's a my08 disco 3. 50k on clock purchased from main dealer. Just serviced and mot'd (apparently)

Stay with it. Discovery's never grow old, LR continuous parts replacement and update program always ensures they are as new as the day you bought it. A bit like Triggers broom.

I like the comparison still it's a pain in the ar$e when it keeps going wrong. Only saving grace is its under warranty. What's the chance of landrover changing the vehicle or giving me any form of compensation for the inconvenience. ?

How long have you had it?
It may well have been traded in as these issues appeared for the previous owner - the dealer didn't bother to fix (or, to give them the benefit of the doubt, never found) the faults.
Starting with another car could only be a case of having niggles and issues with another one, and more inconvenience. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

Hi Martin.I have had it 3 months. I know what you mean by starting again, I may just end up with more, potentially bigger issues. I suppose the issues I have had so far are fairly routine.... Would the dealer 1) be able to and 2) would want to print out a full history for me for the car. It was first sold by them to the previous owner.

The issues you have had are all well documented on here,I have had every one of those......once you have addressed them(unfortunately the previous owner/garage didn't) and had the compressor replaced , then you should be in the clear
At least then you know whats been fixed/addressed. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Not sure if it's the norm, but I had my dealer print out my entire service history. You should request the same so you can review. 16 D4 Landmark

Hi. Indeed I spoke to the service manager who said they will print me a full history on Monday (once the latest issue has been added in). I will take a look and post up so we can all review. Should be interesting. I have the car back now it was a wheel bearing that had collapsed as was interfering with the front offside brake hence the hurrendoes noise. Sounds worryingly dangerous to me...

These suspension and associated problems usually arrive at around the 6 year mark - although my indie garage has seen them at 24,000 miles which is poor.
Bright side - for all of us - is that once these bits have been replaced then you should be OK - and particularly bright bit for you is you have the warranty and have not had to pay out - it is expensive . As Martin says I would stick with it and it seems your dealer is being responsible .
