the uj at the back of the hub has not become dry has it? if all or some of the grease has been washed out and replaced with nowt or water, it may give rise to the noise.

The CV has loads of grease in it.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Perhaps you could swap your front drivers tyre with the rear passenger one and see if the noise moves? It'd exclude a broken/distressed tyre steel band from your investigations.Dr. Ian Malcolm:

AndrewS, get your motor on some tressels/lift and let it run in gear,

That wont work the TC goes nuts tried it in the past as soon as one wheel spins a little faster than the others all hell breaks loose In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I had the same thing. .. . found to be the passenger front wheel bearing. . .new wheel bearing (and £103 later) al nice and quiet again

check the hood
Bit of a rattly noise, front drivers side, only apparent when breaking and stationary with park or foot brake on in D.
Move to P no noise, accelerate away, no noise. Turned out to be the hood. Release hood, no noise. The hood seating needed adjusting.There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song
