As my car slows to a stop I can hear a click click click click click it appears to be coming from the front drivers side it seems more pronounced under breaking. Its not the break pads, I have checked the wheel bearings, wheel nuts and the CV joint they all appear to be OK. Any Ideas? In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Could it be the valves in the gearbox doing their thing? Mine does this when slowing - maybe a dozen or more clicks in quick succession, like a metronome on speed. Iain seemed to think it's just the autobox doing it's thing. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Reverse with the brakes applied - I had something stuck somewhere (in the caliper I think) and doing this freed it up

Checked the tyre nothing in the tread.
Its not the auto box, defo coming from the wheel hub area.
Brakes have been checked.

My first thoughts were a trapped lesser-spotted woodpecker wedged up against the intercooler.
I suppose you've already checked for this rather obvious one, so the only thing that springs to mind could be the metal heat-shield plate behind the brakes. I've heard of quite a few binding but you can only notice it at low speeds (coasting/braking). 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

This is not a joke guys come on I am concerned.
The clicky tick noise sounds like it has some serious weight behind it. Its not a shield type noise. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I know you said you have checked the tyre tread, but did you check for any deformation of the tyre, Citroen ZX we had a long time ago sprouted an egg shaped feature on the tyre which gave a noise similar to the one you are describing.
Might be worth checking any suspension connections in that area as well I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

OK....back to being serious
Is the click click click relating directly to wheel/diff speed? Once per revolution? Or does it increase in frequency if you drive it in low range at the same speed? 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Going up the workshop to
1 stick a new tyre on the front drivers side
2 mark the tyre to see if the noise relates to a revolution of the wheel
3 check the wheel bearing In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

If it is when the steering is slightly turned I would suspect the cv joint, if it still happens straight ahead then unlikely. I have had them where water leaks in the small clip end causing corrosion & slight wear, (not apparent until dismantled).
