Drivers door doesnt lock on the first press of the remote

My drivers door doesn't lock anymore on the first press of the remote (all the other doors do) but if i press the remote a second time the door locks.

After the first press if I go to open the drivers door it opens and the alarm goes off.

Do you think this is a door latch failure? or is there something else i can try first?

I havent taken the door card off yet.

I did investigate how much the lock by the lever on the inside of the door moves when you press the lock button on the dash and it doesnt move all the way in (like the others do), it requires a push to fully engage, could it be just the cable?

door card easy to take off. it could just be the cable that is stiff.

have a look at this, it might help http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...cement.pdf

it could be the door latch cable has come out or the end broken off.
