External window / door trim bubbling |
|
I am new to this forum, so here goes, I viewed a 2005 HSE lat Saturday and it looks ion very good condition with 77K on the clock, but there are 3 things worrying me about the body work,
1. the black rubber trim where the window meets the door seems to be bubbling, dealer said this is common to all D3 of this age.
2.One headlamp has condensation in it and the dealer said he is waiting for a new seal to arrive and he will change it.
3. The fog lights have condensation in them and what looks like grains of sand inside them.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
tnx

1. My 06 suffered from this but not expensive to replace the dealer should do it for you.
2. Only seals in the headlamp are for the bulb covers at the rear as the glass (polycarbonate) is bonded in.
3. Maybe been in deep water. Lamps are easy to remove then just rinse and dry out.
All in all nothing really to worry about and should be able to get the dealer to sort them if he wants the sale.
Good luck in your purchase and look forward to seeing you around

The door trim was bubbling on mine from 2 years old. I haven't asked the dealer to replace it because it's only cosmetic and a lot less than the bramble rash down both sides of the car. Everything is relative.
If it's a 2005 car, is it being sold with a LR warranty?

Pay someone like 10forCash to inspect the car for you. If you live near Derby, he's not far away.
