Mine yesterday would just not continue to run whether it was on it's own or by remote Sad

-5 Yesterday and I could activate via remote and the pump would start up , whiff of smoke , led came on and then it would shut down.I tried this many times , even blowing down the inlet but nothing.

I carried out the reset procedure with the fuse and also had the unit disconnected for an hour , put it all back together and went out for a drive but nothing , all day it would just shut down after a few minutes Sad

So.... thinking it had locked it's self out I gave up but this morning I hit the remote on the off chance and 20 minutes later it's still roaring away Shocked

Can't see why yesterday it refused to work all day but today it does.... makes no sense at all Confused

There is so much about the FBH on this forum, search for fuel burning heater or see

http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Fuel_Burning_Heater

and yes it might continue to run for a short while after the engine has been turned off as it shuts off.

Yes but didn't make note of it. Had it a couple of times now so will note it next time if it helps?

Interesting...

Mine's been running more consistently and cleanly since the cold snap started, though still not 100% perfect starts. This also co-incided with my finishing the tank of diesel that had red-ex in it.

I'm guessing either:

i. The redex has cleaned it (not convinced - have used it lots before)
ii. The redex maybe doesn't combust as well, so is therefore harder for the FBH to fire (that's a guess/question not a statement)
iii. A combination of both of the above
iv. The gunk has worked itself loose - maybe with all the manual firing I've been doing.
or
v. It's still a bit knackered, but is just messing with me...

John, there is a TSB (LTB00309v2) for "Intermittent operation of the FBH", affecting all D3/D4/RRS.

TSBSummary wrote:
A customer may report an Intermittent operation of the fuel fired burning heater in -20 Degrees C markets.

Cause: Fuel pulsation and flame failure/loss of flame/combustion instability etc.

Action: Should a customer express concern, follow the Service Instruction outlined below.

The service instruction involves fitting a fuel pulsation damper, part number LR023514, to the FBH fuel ("dosing") pump.

I'm not saying this is related to your fault, but may be of interest?

Wow - fascinating - thanks had completely missed that one!

Well out of warranty these days (06MY), but given that the pumps a very simple device/connector, I'm guessing it's not hard to do...

thanks again Thumbs Up

Looks like the pulsation damper LR023514 is only a few quid too.

From the TSB it looks like a valve, fitted on the outlet of the pump.
