Piaa H11 Plasma Ion Yellow 55 watt |
|
I removed the stock H11 white halogen bulbs and substituted a pair of Piaa H11 Plasma Ion Yellow 55 watt bulbs, (part number 13511 for the twin pack).
I think that I can see the ground in front of the vehicle better than with the white light. It may be just that the yellow contrasts with the white of the headlights so you can actually see what the Piaa bulbs are illuminating, (or not).
Piaa claims the bulbs give off more light than I guess normal white 55 watt H11's but who knows. I note that claims are aways short on fact, but clearly infer "really great". Anyway, I prefer the yellow to the white, and I think yellow is better in a snow storm - reduced flash back from swirling snow. 2005 LR3 HSE 4.4L AJ-V8 petrol; Traxide Dual Battery; PIAA 2500K Yellow Ion H11 Fog Light bulbs; CounterAct LT-2 Capacitive Corrosion control; LLumar AIR80 Blue clear Infra Red blocking side window film; Liftgate manual release; Schrader Valve "air in" mod to OEM air suspension reservoir tank; Akebono ceramic pads; OEM solid vented discs; LR4 design hitch receiver; Wiggs D4 MOST bluetooth module; Clock on the Dash; 3 Flash signal light mod; Backup Camera; 2015/16 Nav Data update.

Pretty pointless going for brighter fog lights, they'll only reflect off the fog more and end up reducing visibility. A yellower light seems to be better than a white light as presumably it reflects less too or at least isn't a blinding when it does The End

We travelled a lot back and forth to Germany during the winter months in years gone by and always wondered why the French drove alot fast than we did - no it wasn't just the normal french style. I found out when I had to drive a french spec car whilst there once which had yellow fogslamps - there are much better!
Yellow penetrates the fog whereas white light reflects a much higher %age - you don't even need to put the brighter PIAA lamps in to get better visibility, simply change to yellow lamps or put yellow film over the fogs (if you can get them).
For similar reason, the emergency services added Red to their blues some years back - red apparently is the best colour for penetrating fog/mist/snow/rain. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I put in a set of the one's with a blueish coating to them and they came up in colour hue more like the Xeons, though upgraded my main beams to PIAA one's and allot brighter than standards.
