Interesting pain issue with the front grill

The car is 2008 model Disco 3.
This is what it looks like after 2 years.

The highest temperature it has ever met is 40 C.
Lowest is -3 C.

Is this normal with the front grill ?

Edit : Lol at the topic, just noticed, supposed to be paint. =)

Looks (to my untraining eye) that something in the past has struck the grill and the paints flaked away with maybe a pressure washer ??

well there is not just only one
there are some in different places aswell.

If you look lower left of the picture you can see another part of the paint is gone.

Yes, ours looks like that, but with silver paint it's more obvious. As it happens, the dealer did it by the over-enthusiastic use of a pressure wash. I did the same thing myself on my Deafener a few years ago.

Someone had a similar issue with paint bonding to plastic when the new 2008 model came out, IIRC? A silver car with paint stripped off on the rear bumper. Picture is somewhere on this site.

When I pulled off a front number plate that needed changed that was what happened. Once there is an edge, it just keeps coming off like peeling an orange.

Most likely to be a chip from a stone that has broken through the top coat of paint and got enlarged through time by pressurewashers or even high speed winds Laughing

I understand it usually happens when baking between paint coats is done at higher temperatures for shorter times than recommended (shortcut). Easily rectified at a specialist and not too expensive either: I had similar work done to another car on a slightly bigger patch for about GBP 35
