Maybe this then...

At least with the kids she can park in the larger parking bays. Never had a problem with rolling... but the Disco is not the kind of car you throw around corners! As you slide down the banister of life
may no splinters point your way

I have tried explaining that you need to adapt to a different style of driving around town, but she is a bit of a girl racer!!
Sliding floor looks good, maybe I could get her that for Christmas??!!

Just wait until the snow. That will convince her.
My wife is tiny but manages OK. My eldest was 4 when i got it and my youngest was brought back from hospital in it. No one in my family has had any problems getting in and out and i don't have side steps. Even my aged mother in law can get in without assistance. The handles on the front seat are great for getting into the back.
It is the best family wagon you can buy and as the kids get older you'll appreciate it's space even more. The built in changing mat is amazing and you will wonder how you lived with out it!
She will also get used to the roll after a few miles under the belt.

Well you have convinced me! Perhaps I should ask her to read this thread? I think it is the best car for us, maybe time will tell!

My wife is 5 foot loves car will not drive anything else and its a manual, car is only tall in relation to most look at new mondeo longer in length. As for body roll she must be going quite fast round town so perhaps local police might find her out?...fuel economy depends what you relate against?..I have to convince wife about D4 to test an auto as she has to be converted...

My wife hadn't driven any of my Discos in the past 9 years of owning them.
A few months ago the ECU blows on her Astra and it took a couple of weeks to find a replacement. For the first week she borrows my 300TDi Commercial D1 (complete with snorkel, winch and assorted off road additions) and enjoys driving it. The second week saw her borrow the D3 to take to London.
She came back loving the D3 for its stereo, driving position, and power (thanks to BAS). After a 4 hour trip back she didn't complain about backache etc she got from the Astra. She know wants her own LR. She says the D3 is too big, same for the D2 (shame really as I hoping to build a full set) so currently on the hunt for a Freelander 1 HSE.

My missus has never driven any of my cars - she hates driving anything other than the car she owns. Drove Fiestas for years and even changing them meant I had to test drive them - the latest Jazz bought last year, I test drove it.
Only time it is a pain, is when we go abroad and I have to do all the driving. Just means we have to stop more.
But back on topic, she will get used to it - especially if you drop it to access height. Mark.

My SWMBO is all of 5ft and a fag paper tall, we got her the D3 Coiler when the Disco 1 packed up, we even added a 2" lift to make better off-road as it did have the luxury of 4-CAS, she absolutely loved the D3 despite having to clamber in without side steps, now I have a D4 HSE with all the toys and access height, whilst she has a Toyota IQ and she doesn't like drive the Discovery any more - go figure

Dellicott wrote:AVE - need to use the access height more at home, it's made worse because we have a really steep drive and you are always standing lower than the wheels. We have a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old so big child seats in the back make access to boot from that way a bit impossible!
With the baby on the way, you have to put one seat in the middle anyway. So have the 4yo sit in the middle, he/she can climb in alone. You have the outer seat to reach in to the child seat to fasten the belt or to access the boot.
As to your steep drive, hoe about reversing into it so you stand higher than the car?
My wife refuses to drive my car as she says she cannot judge ''where it ends' when parking. She's used to her Prius in which I don't have the feeling where it ends... She does great when driving and parking but just doesn't trust herself driving the Disco. She loves it's spec, capabilities, the road presence and so on... All from the passenger seat.
When it comes down to it, you know what's gonna go but it doesn't hurt trying everything to avoid having to divorce... From your Disco.
