Been made an offer - what do you think ?

Just been made an offer on my D3 by a trader who saw it in my local garage.
Don't really want to sell it.
But it's got a potential cylinder head split/gasket - still to be identified,
[as I'm losing coolant] - buyer knows.

Jan reg 05 SE TDV6 auto SE 129k on clock.
With all the kit on [inc JE tune + Alisport intercooler just fitted].
£9,750

What do you reckon?

Cann't really afford to change just now.
But if I took it, what HSE spec would I get for around £20k

Myself personally,

Snatch his hands off !!!

Could be a costly repaire, someone posted a couple of weeks ago. How the prices on our D3s would drop drasticly in a few months when D4 released. Then the market will be flooded with D3s.

For 20k, you will probebly get a car thats worth 12/15 in a few months!!

Just my two-penneth.

If that really is the case (and i'm not convinced TBH that prices will drop that much) then the best scenario would be to sell now and hire for a couple of months (OK maybe not a D3 but something functional) and then spend the 12-15k on the same replacement instead. Total cost of hire would be much less than what would be a massive depreciation hit if prices do drop Thumbs Up

Get it fixed & keep it for another year, cost of depreciation further for the year & you'll probably still get that in a years time.
Hope that helps M8........ Whistle

Just another thought...

I would not make any decision or commit to anything until the cost of the repair is known, if it is less than a couple of grand and the rest of the car is sound, it doesn't make sense to spend lots more just to have less miles and slightly higher spec TBH unless it is a planned replacement Thumbs Up

Don't forget ronp's car is tastefully upgraded, looks good, is very clean inside and out and may not necessarily have a head problem I'd find out what the problem is first, then decide. Rolling Eyes

PS The D2's didn't take much of a hit when the D4 came out

With all the fuss around a model change or major face lift in the D4's case, I reckon prices of nearly new - 18 month old D3 will firm if not rise slightly.

It may be better to wait until the new year

I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
