MOT......breezed it

6 years old,76,000 miles and abused daily by a busy family.....passed with flying colours....not even an advisory 8) ...garage owner even asked if I had noticed a difference with the blanked EGR's (so not much gets past him)....
he was genuinely interested in how I was getting on with the car and said he was seriously thinking about looking around for a D3 Commercial.....

Nice feeling when your motor flies through the MOT station, had a Polo a few years ago that had done average mileage but was getting on in years and it used to always fly through and never cost me a penny! Tester said it looker new underneath! I do miss the old thing sometimes, cracking little second car! Bow down Not a patch on the Mini though but it was more reliable than the mini has been!!

My wife has a 6 year old Seat Altea.....its only done 40k.....and they really struggled to get it through its MOT emissions test 2 weeks ago Confused .....I did forget to give it the Millers oil/Redex treatment pre-mot that I usually do,but even so I was expecting the trouble to be the other way round Rolling Eyes

MOT is a funny business, sometimes there is loads of problems, such as on this forum 3-4 year old D3's needing work... Guess I was lucky with the little 2002 Polo, Mini is yet to need an MOT. But, funnily enough that was causing the engine management light to come on and going into a "limp" mode a few months ago due to some emissions sensor, they just changed it under warranty. So hope that doesn't rear its ugly head on an MOT when it gets older. Neutral

Mine had its first MOT on Tuesday, failed on brakes which were repaired with new pads and discs, but advisory on track rod ends and front suspension ball joints, not yet 3 years old, 44k on the clock and treated with great care, oh and the customary rusty rear brake pipes! Yet my D2 V reg and 110k on the clock flew through, in fact the guy complimented me on its condition.

To be fair,TFC had advised on a couple of things needing done back in September which I duly attended to,but even then I was expecting something to get flagged up .....
After shelling out over £400 last week for a new compressor I was mightily relieved
