Never had this happen before - high wind = access height |
|
Parked the D3 this morning in between two (2) high rise buildings near the lake during 30-40 mph wind gusts. D3 was buffeting and shaking in the wind when I left - more than I've ever seen a vehicle shake from wind. When I got back an hour later and got in and started the D3 it raised up immediately the same amount as it does when raising from access height to normal, if not more. I did not put it in access height when I parked, and there's no way it self leveled that low after I left. Is it possible that the D3 realized it was moving around so much in the wind that it self lowered? 16 D4 Landmark

FWIW, I recently boarded a 1.5 hour car/passenger ferry in rough seas (force 7). From the deck I could see vans and trucks dancing on their suspension in the garage below, so probably my D3 was doing the same. When I got back in the D3, I did notice it rising up, but I'm not sure if it was all down to access height before I got in. Dennis

There's no way it should do it on it's own unless you are going just over 100mph 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Don't know how many iterations the self levelling goes through, but if more than one you can see it thinking oh, i'm level, no I'm not, try again, still not... till it runs out of air!

As MartinR said it must have continued to self level all the way down. When it raised it went up just like it does during increase from access to normal or normal to extended - back went up first followed by the front. What it did was not typical of a normal self level, much larger increase in height on all corners. Apparently the D3 doesn't like to be shook about. 16 D4 Landmark

Its feasible I guess but remember that it only checks for leveling every few hours so that means it must have been way off level every time it checked. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
