Reduced engine performance message

I fuelled up in Slovenia with regular Euro 95 Petrol. I use that normally too. But now I get always at start-up and shut down a message Reduced engine performance.
Could this be because off bad quality fuel or could there be a filter partly blocked?

I don't feel anything when driving, OK I don't use all the horses with my family in the car.

Thanks

Nobody has an idea?
Could it be the fuel?
Or as it is hot here running the car with low revs and airco at full blast?

Never had the symptom, do can't comment about the cause. Those of us in Oz and more particularly the Middle East, run them with a/c full blast and I haven't ever heard of these symptoms in hot environs.

No engine lights and not always. I fuelled up with super and it looks like I get less messages.
But still sometimes in low gear driving carefully over rocks and between nasty torns.
I will check with my Faultmate later today.

I had a similiar problem "Reduced Engine Performance" quite a while back and it raised its head a couple of times following deep wading. My fan goes into overdrive too trying to cool the engine.

I was told that the water had ingrressed at the engine temperature sensor causing an interrupt between the sensor and the ecu so it was unable to determine and therefore regulate the temperature of the engine. As a safety mechanism, the ecu instructs the fan to stay on full cycle and the engine performance is reduced to prevent overheat whilst you limp home. Other than the interrupt there was nothing actually wrong with the engine.

It has always cleared itself up after a rest (dryout??) and not had it return for over 18 months after I pointed it out during a routine service.

Maybe they did something (but I doubt it).

Not thought about it until I saw this post.

I would look at changing the fuel filter

It could be at the same moments when the fan was doing overtime. It was hot, airco on and low speed. So that could be the reason for the reduced engine performance.
Heine, Does a V8 has a fuel filter? Am I ovelooking something?

screen displays

How common is it to have apparently random faults show on screen? 'coolant level low' is a regular on my car - yet the level is fine Question

If it were a diesel I would say look at fuel filter and fuel temp sensor. With a petrol I have no clue.

Is TFC around?
