peely, read the top of post......
we're not talking having the car pre March 1st and therefore 62plate BUT having 1st March + with a 62plate rather than the "13" to ward off bad kamar
NOTE THAT DVLA WILL ALLOW A 62 PLATE SUFFIX RATHER THAN 13 DUE TO JOE PUBLICS FEAR OF THE NUMBER 13 FOR VEHICLES REG'D AFTER 1ST MARCH 2013 !!!

exactly, SO my point was
13 plate and suffer the bad kamar
62 plate on a march 2nd delivered car
private plate and lighten my pocket £250
so, forward the clocks
is the cars trade value worth most as:-
a) 62 plate march 2013 car
b) 13 plate march 2013 car
c) private plate March 2013 car having never been registered to a 13 plate (allowing £250 for the p/plate purchase cost)
Basically i know its me being tight and not wanting to pay £250 but also I dont want to overly tempt fate of "13"
your thoughts fellas ?
cheers

the fact that you are posting your concerns regards "13" plate would suggest like alot of other potential vehicle owners you wish not to temp fate on a "13" car.
The fact that house builders do not have 13 on their new developments is equally a reason.
For resale, I would recon 62 on a March plate would be the same as 13 on a march plate, perhaps 13 plate might deter some buyers and thus might give a px figure reflecting this, I would say that as the scheme has not be broadly promoted by the dealers is another factor and as you have not been made aware until this post that DVLA will allow you, I would see it make no difference other than to another buyer later in three years time, so in conclusion and from a personal point of view, would I in three years time buy a 13 or a 62 if they were both side by side and reg'd after 1 march......62 plate please

WOULDN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE ..... unless you're superstitious !

peely does make the most sense from what I can tell.
Ive scrapped the idea of a "62" plate, and just need to decide "13" or "private"
Think "13" is the way to go and just tell myself its a "B"
If you believe in it I suppose any "2013" new car (regardless of plate) isnt gona suit.....
cheers

I think a 62 plate on a '13 reg' car would devalue it it the eyes of some.
I also think that a 13 reg car would put some people off due to the superstitious nature.
I would pay the £250 and private plate the vehicle from the start.
You then have the option to sell the vehicle with its original 13 reg, or the Private Plate when you sell.
£250 in the long-term scheme of things is peanuts when you look at the value of the beast!

thanks all
went with the £250 private plate option.
ive never felt so peeved on spending £250 on myself than i did with this, im not the biggest fan of plates
but just have that sneaky feeling I will be glad further down the line with the cars worth at trade in time
I suppose as someone pointed out, the fact I have posted a concern here shows it entered my head
and alothough I am pretty sure its all nonsense I would only always question it every time IF
something went wrong with the car......
im off to sulk now and prey it turns up in time, need it for March 2nd collection
cheers

now, the plate is
first 2 characters make her initials (more or less)followed by FFU
so

so rather than plant a big kiss on her husband she says are you sure that wont be read/interpreated as FU !
What do you people think,
