Replacing air suspension assembly

My 05 disco 3 has now completed 200k and I am planning to replace the air suspension assembly with new ORE units.
Has anyone already done this and will I need any specialised tools.
Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

Specialized skills required.

I am not so certain that one needs any sort of special tools, however you do need specialized skills.

The Land Rover air system is so unique that the skills set is not very common, and that is the real problem. A primary concern is that the system runs at about 250 psig (18 bar), whereas most air systems such as those on semi trailers etc run a max of 150 psig (10 bar). In short this means that the system when pressurized is more of a challege to deal with.

Also just a note of caution - air spring means no spring when no air, and the car drops fast.

In regards to dealing with the pressure and depressure, while there are manual techniques, ultimately you need some sort of Land Rover T4 computer / Black Box setup, and that is if everything goes well.

The only weak spot in the system is the wiring, so if you really want to change something and get an education while you are doing it, change out some of the wiring. Land Rover makes a number of repair overlay harness bits for the weak areas. Once you have installed them, you will have a good grasp of how the system works.

To help develop the specialized skills, use the search function with words such as +Air +Suspension or +Wiring +Harness or +Air +Compressor or +Voss +Connector, or +Fuse +F35 +F35P Those are enough subjects to get you started - it is a big subject.

If u want to replace suspension strut (air sprig or shock)
its very easy job You dont need any special tools just a common sense
car MUST be siting on tripod stands supported by the chassis not the suspension parts
before jacking drop it to acces hight and disconnect battery to prevent it from movement
(dont remove fuses just disconnect it to be on safe side you didn miss the fuse)
every strut is secured with 3 bolts (15mil if recall correctly) and 13 mil air supply connector
open that connector a few turns and when u hear the air coming out leave it to depress itself
(no need of IDS) Even if u fully open that connector u still be able to control deflation by closing the pipe with finger its no more dangerous than opening a valve in car tyre
All above im not guesing i did plenty of them easy and safe
When u have air strut out to replace the shock after opening the shock top nut u can find seals together wit green coloured spacers make sure u remember the order to put them back
Dont change the connector on the end of air line unless its not a tenth change it will serve u well
Any questions Pm me Thumbs Up

this is pretty much what I thought but it is nice to have a confirmation because there have been other occasions I have worked on the vehicle that what I thought would work has bitten me.
