Base seats again

My D3 is now 6 weeks old, on its first long haul I found the seats dreadful, Rolling Eyes for the last 3 weeks I have had the most appalling lower back pain, which has been treated unsuccessfully by acupuncture and moderate exercise. Crying or Very sad I have suffered occasionally with this before, but not to this degree. I will be discussing this with LR dealer this coming week.

Still love the car!

uncomfortable seats

So all of us with cloth seats are complaining, received letter back from L.R. recently staing that mine had been the only negative comment!!. Will get dealer to do EPQR next time I visit, in the meantime does anyone have a number for the EPQR that they raised on this issue.

Thanks

OK, I will add my name to it as well and I have been working with LR to resolve the problem. I am sure Slimer will add to this, so we now have 4 people, three of which we know have filled out an EPQR on the seat.

Oh dear LR, please take note of us, it is no use telling little tales, we will find you out and prove there are issues. Don't cover up the issues, resolve them.

Add another EPQR for mine.. although the temp fix using the ply-wood / velcro I mentioned did cause a knowing smile ? Perhaps they know something we don't in terms of a formal fix Idea

I'm joking,,,, I hope ! Shocked

ps, Nice Freelander as a loaner, but I nearly took out the next doors mondeo due to the (lack of) turning circle, and also , does the Freelander have a drivers seat hight adjuster, or is it only for peole lower than 6'2". I couldn't find anything in teh short time I used the car ..

I had a Freelander as a loaner when they were sorting out my last lot of suspension problems... I'm 6'4", and spent the whole time with half my head in the sunroof!!! Evil or Very Mad

Turns out, (according to the guy at the garage), LR don't do height adjustable seats for the Freelander! How c Censored p is that!

Apart from the sinking feeling, I don't seem to find the cloth seats uncomfortable.

Are they really different to the leather ones or are the cloth ones in my MY 06 different from the MY 05?

6ft and 13 1/2 stone.

"S" seats

I've been into my dealer with my 3 week old S, and when I said about the drivers seat sinking, I was told the S didn't have drivers seat height adjustment! It was classed as backrest adjustment!

Its going back in on 4th Jan, and I'll raise (excuse then pun) the issue again, along with being bloody uncomfortable. I was hpoing that having the footrest removed would help with legroom, and seating position, and whilst there is some improvement, after another 260 miles today, I'm not impressed.

last time I looked, the whole seat goes up and down on mine, not just the backrest ?

In any case it dosn't alter the fact that it still sinks.

Someone has posted the solution tech spec for the fix ... which is 2 bits of velcro and small bit of wood.

seat height adjustment

Have another look, and you find the base height adjuster only lifts the back of the seat base, not the front, so if you lift it, you end up with a feeling of being tipped forward out of the seat, and have no support under the back of you thighs.

This well documented see my letters:

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=24878#24878

One particular paragraph:

Why deny that even such things as an uncomfortable seat complaint has not been reported, when they clearly have and indeed on EPQR’s your own official defect report system. I can prove that I have been working with a specialist seat company and Land Rover with the approval and agreement of Land Rover who are going to pay for the modification to be carried out under warranty to improve the seat.
You have lied again Ford.

Might be worth a try ...

I've spent the last week and about 1000 miles with the seat in its (default) deflated position, and fiddled with the adjustments available from the reach / recliner / lumbar ..

By the end of the week, I have that I found it to be ok, but I guess being a 6 footer may be an advantage here.

I'm still wanting the seat te be "fixed", but now I won't bother with pumping up the seat every few days..

I’ve posted this over on the “GENERAL” section, but thought I’d post it here also. So sorry about the double posting. Hopefully I haven’t broken any rules. Embarassed

Initially I also thought that the “Sinking Seat” scenario was caused my hitting the lever when getting out of the vehicle. This resulted in some very entertaining acrobatics as I tried various ways of getting out without hitting the lever !!!

However I've since found that on a long journey, of say 2hrs, the seat will have sunk a little before I reach my destination, requiring a pump up again.

So I spoke to my dealer about this & they say that there is a design problem with the seats that LR are aware of. Apparently they (my dealer) have replaced a couple of seat bases, only to have the problem reoccur. So after contacting LR about this they were told that there is a modified seat base being issued to solve the problem.

They had offered to replace my seat base, but as it’s quite a task, we’ve decided to wait to see if this “modified base” LR are issuing will solve the problem.

So when they’ve proved the new seat base on other D3’s I’ll get mine done.

I’ll keep you posted.

No worries. Makes it easier for those concerned to find. And yes please keep us posted as I am looking to get a new base too once the new rev appears.
