Range Rover Sport (LS) 2007- Engine: 3.6L(TDV8) Diesel
Markets: Russia only
Section: 412-02b
Summary:
A customer may report a concern of poor engine starting in ambient temperatures below -25°C.
Cause: The Discovery TDV6 diesel engine is specified to start at ambient temperatures of -25°C and above. In Russia, the vehicles can experience temperatures below this threshold.
Action: On a customer concern basis only regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to install an auxiliary heating timer to the fuel fired booster heater (FFBH), which provides additional engine pre-heat prior to starting. The procedure calls for the use of a special tool (LR-130) when drilling holes in the interior lamp unit. The tool is available free of charge for the first tool order (subsequent orders for the tool will be chargeable) from SPX Service Solutions via the contact details below:

The diagram seems to show the Webasto oval timer unit.
Instructions indicate a software upgrade to the HVAC module, presumably to stop any errors being reported from use of the timer?
As for connections, just 1 wire, from pin 2 on the connector on the FBH unit, is connected to the timer.
Anyone seen this before - priced the cost of the timer unit?

Well the TSB only applies to Russia - i.e. they get it free if requested, but anyone should be able to order the kit.IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

It has been discussed, but from memory it isn't like the timer of old where you could warm the cabin.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

No, it will just warm the engine but it means hot air as soon as you start up.
Well the timer was discussed, but the last thing I remember was that it still wasn't available.IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

I have ordered one of these kits to see exactly what is in it, and therefore to see if I can get the FBH connector pins separately (I have already purchased a 1533 timer from eBay for £35 at Christmas time to do the mod myself; still writing it up...).
Retail Price is alleged to be around the £120 mark, VAT included/excluded unknown 'cos I forgot to ask Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?
Or check out his other items ..a few webasto bits on thereG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Are these pins anything like what your after?
Sadly Wiggs, no they're not. The pins I'm after are for the 8 pin connector to the FBH itself - these are much narrower than your standard 0.1" type pin/connectors. This is the guy I bought my timer and timer plug from though.
The multiplug that I need the solder terminal for is marked as a BMW part, and with the TYCO manufacturing code.
Currently I am awaiting info from that most helpful chap Nick at Yeovil as to whether the part is going to be available from LandRover - time will tell but until I can source the part I can't complete my DIY install guide for the forum and that's all that's outstanding!
Later this week I will be searching for BMW and TYCO on the web along with the plug part number to see if I can source external to Landrover - This plug (or it's equivalent) must be available from any car manufacturer that uses a Thermotop V right? I hope.
Thanks for the heads-up on the parts though, I appreciate it!Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Thanks for that LLR, 'sfunny, that's what Nick said too! Nick is also attempting to get hold of parts from the FBH harness repair kit (which includes a pre-terminated wire with the right part crimped to it) ; it seems the move of the LR technical department concerned to Portugal is slowing down things somewhat!
I wait in hope!Dr. Ian Malcolm:

According to Wesbasto, L/R are not offering the engine timer pre-heat kit in the UK market, however Wesbasto have had the all clear to market it themselves & will be releasing a kit towards the end of March beginning of April. The approximate cost will be £130 inc vat plus installation which will take less than an hour. Don't have any further deatils other than an annoucement will be made to the Wesbasto dealers soon.TDV6 2004 Auto Zambezi Silver Badged SE not quite an S with Nav & Rear DVD

Has anyone got any more information on this kit? Do I just buy the 1533?
