Lack of power problem
Fellow D3 owners
(If I have posted this in wrong area please forgive me and feel free to move it)
Last few days my D3 TDV6 HSE 2005 has had a problem with lack of power on starting
Basically start the car (can happen when cold or warm) and there is no power.....in other words car wont rev and nearly caught me out big time when I pulled out of a junction and with foot flat to floor the car literally crawled along, after a few seconds it picked up and shot off like a rocket
Doesn't happen all time and have tried to get into habit of starting her up and letting it idle for a few minutes
This seemed to work but this morning did that and still had lack of power
Always picks up and behaves normally
Just concerned this is a warning of big problem or is something that you have come across and is straightforward known problem with a straight forward fix
Any help much appreciated
Thanks
Clive

I have this on my D4. No apparent reason for it other than a suggestion about gearbox software. However my car is fully up to date.
Odd.

Thanks for that
The simple answer is no and she is due for a service
Trouble is I am working away from home in Herefordshire for 5 weeks and dont know of a good garage around the Royston area
If you do know one or anyone does then I may well give them a ring and get the girl serviced while I am up here
Thanks again

8 mm hex socket and some small torx bits will c u through together with some rag to catch the lower bolts.
Magnetising the socket may help as if u drop bolts you will be cursing 4 hours!!!!!!!!!

EGR valves
Had the same problem yesterday. Had been driving around all morning from place to place. Then pulled away from a friends and 2 mins later, loss of power, wouldn't accelerate for a good 5 or 6 seconds then shot away. After 2 or 3 mins the problem stopped and been OK since. No warning lights or messages. Could this be an EGR valve ? one was replaced when I bought the car a year ago, as far as I know the other one has not been changed, but wouldn't I get a warning on a 57 D3 if an ERG was playing up ?
