Oil pump casing fractured after only 34,000 miles....
Flack is busy doing the 7 tear service on my '07 D3 and has just shown me the old oil casing..... he has advised me to go and buy a lottery ticket as it is my lucky day!!!!
Here is a pic..... the crack goes right through the casing and it looks like a tap with a hammer and it would fall apart...... phew!!! ..... I am amazed at how bad it is and after such a low mileage (34,000 miles). Very bad design.......
Flack has just saved me a world of heartache and expense...... and he is now at the top of my Christmas list....... 2007 Base D3 - Buckingham Blue

Has LR admitted there's a problem with these or is that too much to hope for?
Glad mine's an 06MY.

Del
I've phoned half a dozen main dealers in the last week, all have given me a different price ! All have stated different parts ! Some have said one day others have said two days !
I'll tell you one thing they were all singing off the same song sheet when it came to acting stupid over oil pump casings ! Not one of the service people or service managers had heard of any such problem ?
Either that ! Or they aren't really that stupid but bloody good liars !
I asked if they had ever heard of a failed EGR valve and they reassured me they had !
The day after I rang up the exact same garage and spoke to the same person and again she said that this is something that they had not experienced and in fact had never heard of it !
How much longer before we get some action from LR
I have been advised to ring up the dealer inform them of the fact that I am recording the conversation and in specific the reply to a known fault !
Then have the work conducted WITHOUT the oil pump casing ?
Sounds like a whole world of pain to me but I suppose some one a got to do it ?Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Chalky for what it costs why not just have it changed. It's about an extra 300 quid. Is it really worth the worry. I had mine done last year

It's not the cost trust me !
It's the fact that they refuse to acknowledge that there is or isn't a problem ?
Duckworths for one advised me that they have never heard of it and certainly have never experienced this happening to any Euro 4 engine ?
It would be interesting to know who has had a problem with a main dealer and which ones it was because some one some where must have heard of it or is it something that we are all just inventing ?Only dead fish go with the Flow !

I spoke to guy salmon near me and they said that they had never changed one and did not see the need to change it. So I just thought I don't want the worry has I use mine regularly and wanted to enjoy driving it and not waiting for the engine to go bang and having a long argument with LR
