Fitting TMC

Has anybody ever fitted or heard of anyone fitting a TMC unit to the factory SatNav system? Been to my local dealer and they said it wasn't possible which I find hard to believe, so that’s why I am now asking the collective experts. Bow down

Yes, I have done that (well, my dealer did). Apparently, they just had to install the TMC receiver module and enable it.

This has also been discussed in this thread:

Was it a problem to get the dealer to fit it and how much did it cost?

Not at all, it was the dealer who suggested it after I told them that I *really* wanted TMC.

If I recall correctly it was around 300 euros...

TMC

Ian I have a VDO aftermarket fitted in my D3 which I sourced from Ebay its a old unit but fits the satnav slot, but I know you can buy the tmc for mine for about 60-80pounds on ebay, I belive the actial LR satnav is made by VDO so I cant see why the dealers can't install a TMC unit I would see a local audio shop instead,VDO list dealers on their site. I have a VDO dealer near me(but im in the north near Leeds) let me know if you struggle for telphone numbers etc.Javed

As far as I know, the LR SatNav is made my Denso, not VDO.

After speaking to Land Rover they told me it wasn't possible to fit TMC, well the news is that I have found a dealer that will do the modification to the basic SatNav system but it's not cheap, around £800.00 incl VAT. Big Cry

Now all I have to do is sneak out of the house for the day and spend some money without her in-doors finding out Whistle

Our 2007MY RRS has the factory satnav with TMC and its pretty cr@p -nothing like as good as the Alpine I have in the D3. The RRS version (can't see why the D3 factory module would be any different), spends most of its time in the midlands tuned to a variety of radio stations that have good signal but don't transmit TMC data...I certainly wouldn't risk £950 on something with that level of (non)functionality....
 Cheers
