I now feel like a proper D3 owner...
I've owned my D3 for about three weeks and had it booked in for a service with Guava Guildford on Monday. They called me in the afternoon to tell me that they'd found a few problems and that the cost to repair it was nearly £3000
To be fair, that did include four new tyres and I did know about most of the rest of the stuff when I bought it, so it wasn't too big a shock. The best thing about it though, was that when I mentioned DISCO3.CO.UK, I was immediately given a 15% discount They're now beavering away trying to get the most important work done before I go away on holiday on Friday, so they get a big thumbs up from me so far.
Tyres I'll be getting elsewhere, as I want GG AT's and they're significantly cheaper from Bracknell Tyre & Battery.
Anyway, having had my first big repair bill, I feel like I'm really settling into this Discovery ownership lark Darren

Well, like I said, that did include four tyres, which I'll be buying elsewhere, and the rest of it wasn't wholly unexpected. The mechanical quote after discount is just over £2k.
The full list includes rear disks and pads, one drive shaft gaitor, front prop shaft, front suspension bushes and ball joints, both steering track rods, rear ARB bushes and a wheel alignment, although they're only doing the brakes, gaitor and prop this week. I did know about most of this when I bought it and it's only really the front prop and track rods that were unexpected. It is a 100k mile car though, so it's not really that much of a surprise.
Having been reading through the forum and seeing all the tales of woe about repair costs, I just thought the headline figure was funny. The nervousness in the Guava guys' voice when he was explaining it was amusing, too Darren

Hi, mine started life with me with similar issues, Gearbox (new), Compressor, Alternator, ARB bushes, Software update, Tyres you know the normal few things with a D3 But the beauty of a D3 is if you listen to it really really carefull, late at night it is possible to hear it laughing at you

Well to make you all feel better - since I bought my D3 SE in December 13 from a main dealer I have had the following repaired (admittedly under warranty):
-Reversing sensor repaired
-High pressure fuel rail replaced
-Failed Boot lock replaced - with the dogs in the car with a full height dog guard fitted - it was fun getting them out!
-Rear Prop shaft replaced
-Rear upper suspension arms replaced
-Front lower suspension arms replaced
-Wheel bearing replaced
-3 x glow plugs fail, snapped off in head, body off (see pics above), heads off, sent off to a specialist and drilled out and then all put back together.
....and there is still a clunking noise as I pick up on the accelerator after coasting to a near stop in 1st gear...
as well as the EPB squealing on and off - however it has just got to the stage now that I actually need the car with me and not in the garage, so I guess i'll just have to live with her foibles...
All in all this lot has cost the dealer close to 8K and 5 weeks in the workshop. I must say though that the dealer has been superb and extremely helpful.D3 TDV6 SE Auto; Glass Roof; 19" wheels with GY Wrangler Duratrac; side steps; opticool glass; xenon's; tow pack; mud flaps; Fremax front discs, EBC Ultimax2 pads, rest as SE Spec.

I had my car in at Guava last year and although plenty of folk on here get along with them fine I have to say that I found them to be no better off than any other run of the mill dealership I've dealt with in the past.
I had a quote for an astronomical repair bill which I more than halved by purchasing all the bits from Nick and having Green Oval Garage undertake all the work !
The final bill which included some items replaced that were not on the initial quote was as I said half the price and I feel I had better service.
Obviously that's just my experience as I know many are thoroughly happy with them.Only dead fish go with the Flow !
