Glad I got one in America... |
|
Quick post to say hi. I'm a recent ex-pat living near Detroit in the USA, formerly of Cambridge, UK.
The only real option for a Disco here is the V8 and I'm damn glad the fuel is as cheap as it is. Previous cars include everything from knackered Escorts, Metros etc. up to Audi A6 S-Line 3.0 TDi, so I've experienced the bad and the good from £200 to £43k cars (well, actually I had to pay someone to take one car away, so technically I'm going from negative numbers )
Picked up the car last Saturday and can't stop grinning. The SE spec here in the USA is vastly different to the UK one. Includes almost everything the HSE does apart from the nav system and a few other gubbins. The dealer had an SE with the Bluetooth and Cold Weather Pack installed, so I took it for about $48k on a lease. Very pleased indeed, seeing as it would've been aroud the mid £40k range for the same spec in the UK...
Only problem is the grinding on full lock, but I found the cure on this website so I'm off to get some grease to see if it stops it.
The Buckingham Blue with tinted windows looks as classy as you like. Well chuffed. Nobody over here knows what chuffed means.
Anyhow, not much time to elaborate further, so hi again and hope to be hanging around here when I can.

Fantastic BrewMonkey congrats! How do you like Detroit LOL - I used to live in Grand Rapids so feel for you in the winter months - but then again, back then I didn't have a Disco! I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

Hi sideview. I have lived in Novi for about 6 weeks now and like it. Was bloody freezing around the time we got there though. Minus 19 Deg C at one point. It was about 28 Deg C the other day though and now it's throwing it down. I don't know any better though, so I'm not complaining.
We had a reasonable amount of snow this winter and like you say, it'll be fun with the right vehicle '08 LR3 V8 SE in Stornoway Gray, Alpaca interior. Xenons, Cold Weather Pack, Bluetooth & Sirius. General Grabber AT2s. EBC Sport Rotors & Green Stuff Pads, Traxide SC80 kit half fitted...

Yep, we've got the big mall and the, erm, big mall and...
One of the best things around here though is the huge car parking spaces - less chance of my shiny new doors getting dinged. '08 LR3 V8 SE in Stornoway Gray, Alpaca interior. Stuff the environmental guilt bit, just remember, you might be putting a little more CO2 into the atmosphere, but you're not throwing out particulates like us with 'Oil Burners' do.
