Hdc fault
Over the last few months my disco has developed an "HDC fault", this comes up on the dash quickly followed by "special programs off" although I can still select all of the off road functions including raising and lowering the suspension.
It only seems to come on first thing when the mornings are cold, when the engine warms up I get no faults(touch wood)
It's already cost me a small fortune so far at my local garage,
they have changed the gearbox oil twice
Done a filter conversion
Change the EGR valve as the revs were surging
Changed a module in the gearbox
But so far to no avail.
Any ideas?

check the state of brake light switch under the panel in drivers foot-well
cost is around 8 quid and might be very quick and cheap fix

Battery at a poor state of charge or just at the end of its life.

So I gather this is a common fault then. Not sure how old the battery but will get it tested

Fourths for the battery. It is just flagging a comms failure message. The things that flash up are the last checks it runs when started. New battery fixed mine and now I charge the car once a week to keep it topped up. To be fair you can also ignore it as it Isn't doing any harm.James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

That's good to know, I was concerned that something might fail because of it

When it warms up then it could dissapear altogether. Do suggest getting a ctek though. Do help to keep the battery happyJames favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

That makes sense as I never got the problem until winter kicked in

I'm getting this now. Did the hard reset and it stopped all the other odd faults (special programs off etc). I've done the brake switch too.
It says 'HDC fault', and if you press the HDC button it says 'HDC off'.
Battery then?with a occasional Bailey Unicorn Valencia tintent

Actually, also noticed that the RH brake / rear lights are brighter than the left. Any connection?with a occasional Bailey Unicorn Valencia tintent
