The V8 upgrade is a good, simple upgrade - and cheap if you need discs anyway.

I did the front only just before Xmas and have also done a fluid flush in the past fortnight - it's MrsWizbongre's daily driver so she has noticed the difference the most and commented how much more confident she feels. The rear discs and EPB were all replaced not too long ago but will no doubt upgrade them too at some point in the not too distant future.
Short summary, for the money and ease of swapping over, I'd deffo recommend doing the fronts. Cheers,
Gareth

Just finished and been out for a drive. Makes a difference and the pads are not yet bedded in. Only one drama with the first set of EPB shoes, but quicker on second. I will write up tomorrow and add pictures and thoughts on what to look out for.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

V8 Upgrade fitted by Bodsy last year transformed the braking. We live in a hilly area and tow a horse trailer.
The difference is incredible undergoing braking when "really" needed or when with trailer going downhill.
Mine came from AF forum sponsors

Ok, so here is my write up. A few things to note:
- Print out the Bodsy Bible, that is much easier than scrolling iPad. You will be doing things in a different order to the Bible which has normal service procedures first
- Throw away old loctite - mine was too old. Buy new
- Put all the clips on the caliper carriers before you start to make sure they are all there. Mine were. Steve
- Keep an eye on the brake fluid - I did have to remove some as I was changing all pads that were worn
- Perhaps I missed it - but easier to do with both wheels off ground
- Have plenty of nitrile gloves. I changed frequently to keep pads and shoes free of grease
- When cleaning the new pads, use a light coloured cloth. It is amazing how much grease is on them and several sprays and polishes needed to get them clean
- Don't forget to clean the inside of the rear discs where the EPB shoes press When you do the fronts you are just thinking about the discs - eassy to forget the inside of the rears when you start on them
- Glad I had the two torque wrenches 0-60 and 60 to 300nm. I would probably have done the caliper bolts up too tight and the carrier bolts up too loose without
- I was glad of a 1/2inch to 3/8 inch adapter to use my 15mm socket on the larger torque wrench - the socket was only 3/8
- If you think your EPB shoes have plenty of meat on them, do check the condition inside the disc. You may still want to strip and lubricate surfaces
Here was the state of my pads compared to new. It was same story back and front

and caliper carrier. With the V8 upgrade you use the same cailper

The carrier bolts are really tight. This may look like overkill in terms of breaker bar, but nice easy pressure undid them easy and no slipping

This was the finished front

There was no sign off copper grease on any friction surfaces on the rears. Cant believe my EPB worked so well

And this was the rebuilt rear EPB shoes. When you put these together follow Bodsy's instructions. When you get to the second shoe, and you have the large spring attached, dont be afraid to stretch it to get the shoe in place. I did follow Bodsy's tip of using ties to cold the pressure plate spring whilst fitting

All done I then went to bed in the EPB shoes.
First impressions are good but pads need to bed in. All set for towing the tintent in the Scottish Highlands in May2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Take a look at the Advanced Factors web site for parts and prices in the Pro kit. Benefit is the disco stops much better and I belive the pad wear is less so they last longer. Also I enjoyed doing it. Cost of the upgrade is marginal if disc need changing anyway.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Great write up and a good job well done
The V8 brake upgrade is somewhere near the top of my to do list now, only downside is my rear discs are quite new but as I've only owned it a couple of months they didn't come out of my pocket!

You can start by doing just the fronts then.
