Can we just post up how to guard against this
Its like some secret bl**dy funny handshake!!!
I assume you just secure the plastic grill with some self tappers so it can't come out without opening the bonnet - and if you can't get the grill out you can't get the headlamps out!
That's my theory anyway! But I've got front lamp guards and they're halogens and they're 7 years old so I'm probably safe Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

the point is, if you post it publically -then google will become a thief's friend and while we might all act on here (or not) actually the simple method to secure them, shares the route to remove them and rather than do that, I would rather a little screening especially as the sport is also impacted.
So instead of speculating and helping thieves (or telling them to do it) a simple PM seems sensible...just like we don't say how to remove some of the other external desirable bits!!Mike

What Robbie is referring to is the method ...if they are smashing their way into the D4 cabin to facilitate the deed then that is different to the RRS issue.
Once inside the motor they could take anything with time....a bit like getting into your house ...so have you cable tied your tv's down? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I think the problem is, they only smashed the glass reached in popped the bonnet they never got in it its deadlocked.
After that its so fast to get the lights they don't care alarm is going off..
My missus went to window as soon as alarm went off and they had already got the lights and gone.
Bit different to having to sit there unscrewing stuff while the car alarm goes off, or nicking your tv while your house alarm goes off This literally takes them seconds.
The had neatly left my black design grill against the fence, which was nice of them... Seems they only wanted the headlights.
Why is the bonnet release not in the door shut as on my much cheaper French MPV. Or disabled if the car is locked.
Like I said the car is deadlocked without the key anyway, i.e boot doors, but not the bonnet.. Seems an oversight ...
Im thinking of disabling my bonnet catch and relocating it... Or fabricating some sort of deadlock
I can cope with a £100 of glass, but I don't want 2900 + glass and excess again!!

sgooduk, Much cheaper way instead of disabling and moving or fabricating a deadlock, how about removing the handle and hiding/storing it in the boot if its needed when out. It's a screw that holds the handle, torque's head type, so just need to keep the right size with the hidden handle. 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)
