United Kingdom 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

Had the Disco on stands for almost two weeks while struggling to find the solution for an issue with the suspension, to sort this out I checked the fuses box under the bonnet and behind the glove box for fuse blown, corrosion, voltage drop, relays, replaced a bunch of fuses anyway; checked A pillar control module; check height sensors contact; rebuild compressor and dryer unit, all seals, desiccant, filters, piston seals and valves;new compressor bracket; replaced almost all the screws and retaining clips of the compressor enclosure and support; air valves clean.

While I was waiting for spares and when I was fed up with some of this stuff I did:
Blanked EGR and cleaned throttle body, intake manifold, pipes and radiator; removed butterfly valve; cleaned filters and MAP and MAF sensors.

Checked all fluids levels and cleaned air and pollen filters.
New Brembo break pads, sliders pins and bolts.
New lock and general overhaul for swan neck removable tow bar.
New parking rear camera connected to dash monitor and rear camera for dashcam.
New nuts for all the wheels to replace old swollen ones.
Replaced trim pins for exterior door trim.
Replaced all interior light bulbs with LED ones.
Partial under seal waxoil.
New insulation for engine cover.

I’m surely leaving something out but that’s the bulk of the stuff I managed to do in between job, family, pets and weather. I feel superhero!

Puts the rest of us to shame Bow down

I thought I was doing well fitting my new DRLs (from PFUK) to replace very foggy fog lights and replacing the old drivers door seal (have to wait on that one as the seal provided was damaged !)... and also the easy silicone hose from the air intake (I'll save the other two for a relaxing day Laughing )

I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

It really helped that I’m mostly working from home this days! Laughing
How do you value the DRLs from PFUK? I have the same problem with my fog lights and I’m thinking to buy those as well. They looks good on YouTube but are they good in real life?

They are very good in reality, they dim when the headlights come on and turn off when you use the indicators. They are extremely bright and I really miss having DRLs as despite its size so many people can’t seem to see the Disco.

Not used it for a couple of weeks, so gave her a check over today. All oils and fluids good.

Did find bonnet gas struts have decided to give up and found some rust beginning to peer through the rear sills/wheelarches - that's definitely next on the list!

Topping up the swear jar today! New shoes on the EPB as one wheel had a minor squeak (and had no material left at all. All cleaned up and new parts installed, adjusted as per the bodsy brake bible. 60Nm to turn, 8 clicks back, rubber mallet etc.

Wheels back on, back on the ground, quick test and it screamed until I pushed off again.

Wheels off, readjusted, back on the ground and now getting a very small screech right at the end of the on-motion, but it stops itself immediately.

Brew time, find an empty swear jar to fill then check again and readjust. Thinking I might only back it off 6 clicks instead of the 8 clicks the bible suggests, I’ve seen that written somewhere.

It was the other day but got the decals replaced. The old ones were looking tiered.

Not quite done to, but for Dennis. Picked up a new to me replacement fridge. Gone from 25l to a 40l fridge

Was pleasantly surprised when I went to pick it up to find a modified D3 on the drive of the seller with the Disco3 sticker in the back. Nice guy, not active on here anymore but still got his D3 Smile

I’ve been looking for a method of powering the fridge when it’s in the awning without using extension leads etc through doors so decided simple was the way to go. Ran a supply from my aux battery fuse board down and along to the centre of the step the drilled and fitted a marine waterproof 12v socket Smile the socket is just shorter than the depth of the step so doesn’t extrude below,

made sure it’s fused and switched so not live normally but give me a fixed supply in the awning Smile
