I know this thread has been around for a while, but I really wanted to thank Iceman for his write up.
I've just completed an installation following Iceman's guide - but wasn't sure about using the same location for the power outlets in the boot, as I plan to install a drawer storage system for expeditions at some point. This might make the sockets difficult to access.
Instead, I've installed mine next to the cup holder below the rear side window.....
Hope this is of some use to someone.1981 Unimog U1300L (ex German Army vehicle

I have a few spare Disco3 12V sockets and same switches as you to install in the same place.
One other thing I've just noticed with my Aux battery set up is the voltage. I bought a digital voltage display that fits into a 12V socket as I have a feed from my Aux battery to one. It's started to read 14.9 - 15.1V on both Aux battery and vehicle battery from the 12V sockets. I understand anything above 14.8V is an issue but wondered if this was caused by having 2 batteries being charged?Dave

Roughly what's the all up cost of doing this?
£200 ish?
My yellow top Optima is £170, T-Max is £80-£90, then you have the cables, sockets, switches, battery terminals, battery clamp and fuses.
I can't remember the total price but I guess you'd be looking £400 if not more doing it the way i did.

Did something similar to Dan over the weekend, but went a step further. Used 3 x 30A relays to switch 12V feed to sockets as switches were only rated 16A. Not that I expect to use that much but at least I don't have to worry about the current I'm pulling. I've also put the fusebox inside the cubby as I dont fancy pulling the panel apart to change a fuse!
Not finished yet as I still have to wire in the main 60A line.... as well as run in the earth line from the sockets and switchesDave
