As one of the early beta testers a few weeks ago, just a quick note prior to a write up: remap thru IIDTool could not be simpler.

This is a great step forward providing the remap file is priced competitively.
What is the situation when the time comes to sell/upgrade the vehicle?

The remap is VIN specific, so you can remove it or leave it on, what were you hoping for?

If the map is left on it may increase the value or disirability of the car, how will this effect the Iid tool if it is not sold with the car as it is unlikely a new owner will want to pay £xxx for the Iid tool and even more unlikely that I will want to part with the Iid tool? - this also rendered the original BAS tool as scrap.
Can the Iid tool be transferred to a later model vehicle when I upgrade? - to a D4 or RRS for instance.

the IID can be transfered for £25 so you coiuld transfer it and then when you register to the new car, the IID will work with the new LR/RR product.

The remap however, will have been specific for the VIN, so I cant see that being transfered. Just leave the map on when you sell the car. Thumbs Up

Thanks, that's good if it works like that. The point I'm making is with the original BAS tool if the map was not removed before the car was sold, the tool was locked into the old cars VIN and could not be used on another vehicle, if this happens with the Iid tool it is bad news, in my case the file would not be of any use as I will be upgrading when the time comes to a 3.0 D4 or 3.0 RRS.

IIRC, is it not the case that GAP will transfer the license to a new vehicle of the same owner for free, the £25 only being payable for a new owner? Smile

No, it's £25 'transfer' to effectively reset the IID Tool, so if your the new owner or not, you can link it to whichever car you want to once the fee has been paid and the tool reset.
I don't recall seeing anything about a free unlock with same owner to another car. Otherwise yoiu could be swapping all the time to whoevers car you felt like.

Either way, £25 is a bargain to be able to change say your D3 to a D4 if you change car.

Just looked it up:

What is the cost to unlock it and move it to a new vehicle when we changes vehicles?
Here are the typical scenarios:
• Adding a second vehicle license (enhanced functions) costs 60 GBP ish depending on the dealer
• Used unit is sold, buyer pays 25 GBP
• You sell your D4 and buy a D5, transfer to the D5 is free of charge and the tool no longer works on the D4.

Hope this helps Thumbs Up
