Decision time!
Right folks, got a bit of a shock from the garage after my air suspension bag split.
Turns out it needs a new bag, new propshaft centre bearing, and park brake module (but might have to remove LPG tank to get to it) Quote all in, including possible new compressor, around the £3,000 mark.
I'm fairly handy with spanners but by no means a 'technician'. Would these jobs be beyond a fairly average spannerman? And also, although the compressor works, it's bloody noisy - would I need to have it plugged into a computer after fitting a new one?
Just trying to do some sums, whether it's worth doing it myself with just the price of parts, or whether she will be broken up.
Thanks! Off for a lie down

The strut, compressor and propshaft straight forward jobs. Not sure where the LPG tank is to replace parking brake module.
I think depends on which compressor you but depends on whether you need to plug in a computer.
Find geoff. On here he may be able to help.Vehicles

If you are half tidy with the spanners you should be alright with them or one of the guys on here will be along shortly and i'm sure they could do it cheaper and it probably nee to be plugged in to reset park brake and suspension Discovery 3 se gone

Thanks for your thoughts!
I should have said, the LPG tank is where the spare wheel is usually tucked underneath. Realistically I can do without the EPB for the moment as the MOT isn't til the spring.
I'm down just outside of Dover, using a local garage I've always used, not a LR specialist but runs a D3 himself and is very fair.
As far as I know, the compressor is the original, I'll ping a PM off to geoff in a bit.
Cheers Mikey, I'll bear it in mind, would quite like to get through the winter with it though

Well for the moment, I'm getting her recovered back and have 2 front air springs on order.
I'll do the propshaft in the future but not quite yet. Same with the compressor. It's bloody noisy so i'm hoping it's just full of crud.
I expect when the MOT is up in March I'll sell her as spares/repair as apparently the EPB module is just .
Thanks for all your help - now off to dig out 'how to' guides for changing suspension struts and prop shaft!

Surely if you are all set to sell for spares you may as well do it now before spending any money? It will be worth more now than it will be without an MOT.
I've done an EPB and you have to be able to get your arms in all kinds of positions. I spent ages getting a couple of bolts out by rotating and lubricating(1 hr plus) and made sure everything went back where it came from.IID PRO

Well, did one suspension strut today only 4 hours Fair bit of swearing. WD40 and a lot of beating with a hammer but she's up, and holding air.
The nut right at the back nearest the engine was a real pain in the backside. All tight as hell, but on checking the old strut it appears to be original, so not bad for 10 years!
