ISTR that releasing the 'next years model has become progressively earlier in the current year since the D3 was first released Confused

An 05MY cannot be a 2006. It might be 2004 (but probably not, as they were released quite late in 2004) but is probably a 2005. 06MY came out in late 2005 (mine was Dec 05 but is an 06MY).

The MY tends to be about 6 months ahead of the calendar year.

Not quite as straightforward as looking as the reg - For example Ken has an 07 reg but his is a 2008 MY

Googsy, chances are it's a 05MY. Productiion of the new MYs usually started in September in 04, 05, and 06. I'd say it's very unlikely that it's a 06MY if it's Irish sourced, as it wouldn't have been coming into the country till late October or November, and very few people here buy a new car in December when they can wait for the new registration year in January.

To confirm the MY, just look at the VIN number on the passenger side under the windscreen wiper blade. Roughly in the middle you'll see something like '5A', '6A', etc - where the number before the 'A' is the MY year (i.e. 5A is a 05MY).

DiscoStu, I have seen several 05MY D3s registered as 2006. They can sit in dealer pounds for many many months before being sold.

Cheers

Thanks all,

Mines 2005 first registered in July from what I know without inspecting. From reading site it appears the 2005 MY had its share of problems maybe I should have got a 2006!!! Thing is though I could'nt resist having all the toys ! Anyways im sure most of the issues have been mostly sorted time will tell.

Cheers

I haven't had any problems with mine that I could blame on the MY of production.

Just make sure it has had the Vehicle Enhancement Program (VEP) completed (should have been done last year) - get the service department of the dealers to check this (don't rely on the salesman!) on the LR database (it shows up as warranty work). The VEP fixed air compressor issues and updated all the software to the latest versions at the time which pretty much sorted out all the initial problems with the 05MY vehicles.
