Rear screens Fitted

Finally found myself some screens to fit into my headrest , also fitted the video audio interface into the centre console

the screens originally came from a Freelander,

cutting them up was scary, but I think the end result is ok

I fitted an old PlayStation 2 I had collecting dust in the loft , my son is glued to it keeps him quiet ,sorry entertained.

Nice, looks OEM. Thumbs Up
This is a mod I've constantly considered but I'm not sure what I'd show on the screens. My sat nav doesn't have an output so I'd have to install a seperate piece of kit but I'm unsure what. Rolling Eyes

These are from a Freelander genuine Land rover Screens

they are not linked to the sat nav, they have a separate video input socket in the rear behind the cubby box next to the aux audio input and 12 v aux output socket,

I was going to connect an input to the satnav but already have the rear and front cams taking up two video inputs.

I was going to buy a portable dvd unit but remembered that I had a playstation 2, this plays dvds
so I saved some £s on that, the playstation sits under the passenger seat.

the ps2 is a slim version and has a separate power supply/transformer so powering from the car is easier just purchased a 12v - 8v adaptors.

I've done this mod myself but never got around to fitting the DVD player. Never even thought of fitting a playstation which I also have gathering dust. How did you connect the monitors to the playstation??

Mine too were from a freelander but they came with all the connection kit for a freelander. I can see from your pics how you connected them but I don't have the aux jack point only the phono ones which is ok. How did you powers the playstation because it's 240v did you use an inverter?

I have a playstation 3 so assuming it would work. Thumbs Up

my 2005 disco is an SE and already had the aux input meaning that I had the wiring for the aux input.

the freelander kit I got had the xvo500020 module with the phono connections, the aux input was not visable until the rubber cover was completely removed.

I don't think the aux input on the module when fitted in a freelander was intended to be used as the freelander has a separate aux input.

i removed the module from the freelander trim, drilled my trim with the 12v socket on it , ( the holes are marked on the rear of the trim) . fitted the freelander module plugged in the module to the car and press the aux button on the radio or rear audio controls.

the playstation 2 i have is the slim version that has the separate power supply and not the inbuilt transformer meaning that i was able to buy from ebay the ps2 convertor that reduced thhe 12v down to the 8 volt that the ps2 requires

i also have a battery pack in the boot that i can use to power the original 240 volt transformer.
i decided that this is best until i prove the battery on the car with the screens fitted as they are powered from the rear 12 volt aux output.

hope this helps

How did you get the freelander screens out of the freelander headrests. I can see the screws behind the screen, but not a clue how to loosen apart from some force which will potentially damage the screen

You don't or at least I didn't. I just did a straight swap but took the fabric off my D3 headrest as they were a different colour and pulled it over the freelander headrest. You have to butcher the grab handles a bit as the freelander headrest doesn't have the hole for the little plastic peg but their solid enough.

if you look at chrisd3's gallery there is a photo story of rear screen installation. In the second picture the freelander 2 screen have definately been removed from the original headrest without stripping off the leather. Thats a magic trick I'd like to know how to do.
