Fuel tank

I fitted some side steps to the Disco over the weekend. Whilst under the car I noticed that the chassis etc. was pretty clean and rust free. However the fuel tank has a lot of surface rust. Does anyone know of any issues relating to fuel tank corrosion on these cars ? Is it worth just cleaning it off with a wire brush and painting it with stone chip or similar? 2007 HSE - 96k miles
New belts + tensioners.
V8 Brake upgrade.
EGR blank and remap.
Autobox flushed +new filter.
Diffs and trans box oil changed.

I suspect it's the cover plate to the tank, not the actual tank that you've seen the surface rust on Thumbs Up

The tank itself is plastic. Rarely rusts Wink Thumbs Up

Ah that makes sense I didn't realise there was a protective plate over it. Thanks Thumbs Up 2007 HSE - 96k miles
