'08 Disco 3 - Timing Belt change
Hi all
First Discovery and first post so be kind.
Our Disco 3 2.7 tdv6 is now past 7 years and at 95k miles so I am ringing round for quotes on the timing belt change. I've had a few quotes £600 - £675 and wanted to get a sense whether or not these were in the right area.
Any thoughts or advice appreciated
Tim

Sounds in the right sort of ballpark.
Make sure you get the oil pump checked / replaced at the same time. Some were prone to failure and with a 2008 I wouldn't want to risk it.2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Thanks again. I'll give the garages a call back to ask about the oil pump.
Is there a way a novice can tell if I've got a bad one? It sounds like they normally go after the belt replacement so makes sense to change at the same time.

Why not let a good experienced indie do it on your drive? And I'd change the pump anyway for piece of mind.

You're probably not too far from Flack (on here) who did mine (and many others on here)?
If you do a search you'll be able to find pictures of the different oil pump casing designs and which are good / bad but I agree tayaste. When mine was in bits for the belts it was found to have the later (safe) design but I still opted to have it changed.2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

So I've done more digging and found the VIN ranges below for the oil pump part:
LR013487 is quoted from 9A510122
LR007798 9A508510->9A510121
LR007131 8A457086->9A508509
LR002465 7A000001->8A457085
134651 >6A999999
My VIN is 8A473457 so this falls into the LR007131 category. Is this the bad one?
Thanks
Tim

We've pretty much decided to get the thing replaced with part number LR013487.
