D3 ticking/tapiing when engine is warm
Hi all i need held just got my d3 and its ticking/tapping when enginge is warm it sounds like a its from a tappit lifter has anyone one any info on this apart from the tapping it runs very well

Had something sounding very similar. Replaced the oil pump, which cured it My D3 Build Thread

Thanks think i am going to take it in for an oil chage did you have any warning lights showing

Mine does the same after replacing tappets and oil pump still only does it when warm. Would like to get to the bottom of it as well. Another members vehicle exactly the same. Will investigate further and report back.Vehicles

I have replaced the EGR valve and the exhaust manifold still got the ticking when hot. Mine only appears to be on one side thou.

Dont know to be honest i noticed it worst from the drivers side behind the front wheel and its manual

Mines a manual and same place. I was wondering whether flywheel. But I replaced my fly wheel two years ago.
I am away with work at now will post a video on weekend. To compare.Vehicles

A number of people have had issues with cracked crossover pipes after any kind of transmission work. That would fit if it sounds loudest where you say it does.

What fuel do you use? Mine seems to run rougher if I put certain supermarket diesel in, especially Morrisons so maybe try a fill up with some premium BP stuff and see if it sounds any better. Failing that I'd take note of Disco Mikeys advice as he knows these vehicles inside out

Mine is no difference with bp and I replaced my oil pump for a new Citroen one from DIsco Mikey not cured it. I know 3 manuals now that do it. I wonder flywheel will investigate. IVehicles

Hi carnt upload video i dont know how lol . Just had a listen and its defo coming from the back of the engine near the bottom sounds just like an hydrolic tappet. But obviously no the top of the engine sounds good
