My Disco expired 3 weeks ago with what has been diagnosed as a broken crankshaft. Repairs underway as I write this courtesy of a local specialist.
What has come to light is a number of recent catastrophic engine failures in our locality on a variety of cars due to what has been suggested as petrol in the diesel purchased at a local supermarket filling station.
Anybody else had any experience of this issue?
yikes, that is a major blow.

here´s another positive D3 fact:
2005 D3 2,7 HSE with actual 320.000 miles
during this period we replaced battery (2 times) front wheel bearings (3 times) turbocharger (one, due to seized wheel adaptor), front and rear braking disc (2 times) and suspension arms (front and rear)
seems got a good one

My Disco has just turned 200,000 - should I now not fear the crankshaft failure? Lol.

Crank failure after 200,000km
I am afraid my trusted LR3 (2008) TDV6 went at 225,00km.
