Suspension fault normal height only |
|
Having seen this crop up many times, I now have the 'Suspension Fault Normal Height Only' fault appearing after several minutes driving. This has graduated from just an amber light and 'Suspension Fault' since the care returned from having a new TC fitted.
At ignition no fault is present, and the car will level correctly in all three different suspension heights.
Codes appearing are:
C1A27-12 Compressor Circuit (Circuit short to battery)
C1130-66 Air Spring Air Supply (Signal has too many transitions/events)
So any advice welcome...
1) I'll put it into off road overnight, remove fuse and use the insulation tape trick to identify whether it drops in any/all corners
2) Try soapy water trick on the dryer cap to check for the (common) crack
Things I have already done:
1) Replaced front off side tyre due to excessive wear on outside edge
2) 4-wheel alignment
3) Steering angle sensor reset
4) Changed brake light switch
Thanks guys

Im not that sure but from what you have described it may have a bad earth or a bad/loose connection to the compressor or some ware but you say it has a fault but dont tell us what it actually does to the car Discovery 3 se gone

Thanks Geoff
Until yesterday there were no noticeable symptoms when driving, although an error kept appearing.
Now, having got the car back from Bristol Transmissions (new TC which I am very pleased with!), rather than an amber warning with the message 'suspension fault' and no loss of function, I get the message 'suspension fault normal height only'.
With this message, special functions are turned off and different suspension heights cannot be accessed. After driving the front is level, but appears lower than the back of the car.
I'll investigate the connections/earth as it does appear to be electrical as no other symptoms are evident

If it's not on the bump stops when you drive or in the morning you can rule out a leak of the air bags or compressor and when you start it you should here the compressor run for a short time Discovery 3 se gone

So put into off-road height last thing yesterday evening, and with the engine still running I pulled fuse 26. Came back this morning to a 'dragster' with a sagged front, but both sides equally so. Rear of the car hadn't moved a muscle.
So the front-valve block appears to be the likely culprit? Yes? What do the guru's think?
Cheers
