I have only done it on a engine that had been removed, when my TDV6 went boom, I replaced it with a SDV6. Here is the work shop manual PDF.

Sorry for the delay in reply, have just been away for a week in the Disco. Covered approx 2000 kms since the HPFP went in and all seems to be running well.
The replacement is fairly straight forward. The manual posted is close to how mine was, with a few changes.
I only needed to remove the high pressure rail from the right hand bank of injectors (looking from the front), the other side had enough movement to push it out of the way once undone from the pump. The wiring loom is able to be moved out of the way enough once it is removed from the bracket at the rear to leave it plugged in to the harness near the battery. My bolts went into the pump from the front and rear, not the top as per the manual, the two at the rear I think were torx T45 recessed head bolts. They were fairly difficult to get out, due to lack of space.
To make re-installation easier we cut off part of the rear positioning leg of the PCV oil separator, as it is a very tight fit to get out and into its position between the engine and the top of the firewall.
We replaced the rear belt and tensioner, I believe that the tensioner is one use only and we cut the old belt off as it seemed to be the easiest option.
