Spent the best part of the afternoon "playing" with my new D3, adding led's to the interior lamps, fitting dash cam, etc. The front fog lights are shot!!. It looked like there was sand in the lamps, but after stripping them down, the reflectors were rotten, and the main body was severely corroded. I'd like to change these for LED versions, but I'm concerned that I won't be able to get them to fit. Anyone on here that could give guidance please?
I've also tried unsuccessfully to remove the detachable tow hook. The lock is heavily corroded and although I've WD40'd it to within an inch of its life, and even used a fine screwdriver to clean out the keyhole, the key won't go in all the way. Any suggestions please?

We have had our Discovery 3 for a month now and, hopefully, can breath out now.
After a lifetime association with Land Rovers, the first was a series 1 with the old round Smiths Heater on the bulkhead that I learned to drive in when I could just reach the pedals fourty four years ago, when I could easily reach the pedals there followed a series 2a, Series 3 Swb, Series 3 Safari and three Range Rovers, one of which I still own, FAC 216Y used by the press for photo shoots as it was the first with the LT77 five speedbox, though she has been lurking in the garage for a number of years.
So it was with not just a little trepidation that we bought a eight year old bit of technical wizardry but, most jobs, through the marvel of YouTube, seem doable, though seem more pliers and electric screwdriver than oily rag and bloody knuckles.
She an "S" which I presume is the silent S in Pauper spec, but has a " Premium" radio Gadzooks! and aftermarket running boards which were rotten so my son and I replaced them last weekend with a pair from that online Emporium Amazon for £130.
Also we have added a dog guard and bootliner, which was prescient as it turned out the puppy doesn't like travelling and the shiny new liner turned into a sea of and spew.
The front right foglight is fogged ( heh) and needs replacing, YouTube shows that to be easy but £100 odd quids seems a bit excessive so that's on the to do list.
No saggy headlining Woo!!
No overheating engine,Woo!!
It's not a Range Rover is it?.
The only thing I cannot get on with, but suppose I will in time is the electric handbrake, it's hardly progressive is it!.
In the past I've found candlewax helpful for locks to protect them ( answering earlier question).
Anyway, I wanted a 110 but at twice the price for twice the age for someone who rather spend half as much it was a no brainer, also as a seven seater we wanted something that could fit the sudden onslaught of grandchildren, could pull the caravan and ride us around in air-conditioned comfort.
I had a brief dalliance with an Isuzu Bighorn which was fun and was astonished that everything worked in what was a twenty two year old truck, something I've never come across in an equally aged Landrover, until she dropped a valve so that love affair ended abruptly and I've slunk back to the arms of Birmabright.

They just make the best of everything they have.
