Ukraine 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

I like the front and the black pack helps set it off. Still hate the back though. Proportionally and aesthetically I think the XC90 works better, but its all subjective.

I have been looking at the D5 for a while and whilst not in the market for two or even three years was happy to give the D5 a chance. Having seen the car at the launch at the local dealers where 500 people were climbing all over it, I thought it looked ok. Nothing about it really screamed "buy me" though. I just thought it was ok. Last Saturday I visited the LR dealer in Woodford and looked at the model again. I really just don't love it. It's ok but I love my D3 and now my D4 and just don't feel bitten by the same bug with the 5. The rear is the problem and at certain angles looks more like a people carrier from Korea that a Disco. As much as I wanted to love it, I just couldn't. I'm sure those that have one are really happy but emotionally it just doesn't hit the spot. BUT I did find something else to love. A RRS Autobiography Dynamic with the silly seats in the back. I don't use the 7 seat option as often as I did but couldn't be without them. So a great compromise is to have some that are ok for a short trip to the pub/restaurant and are so much better than nothing. I saw a white RRS with the Pimento interior and the boy racer in me just went gooey at the knees. Looks like LR have kept a buyer. Smile

Nope, can't get rear AC on a 16MY D4 due to the weight or space, can't remember the reason, by adding AdBlue Thumbs Up

I hadn't thought of the poor old '83 Sierra...

There are some surprising similarities here.

Saw a D5 on the outside lane of the M25 this week. It's the first time I've seen one in the wild as I missed the launch at the dealers. I want to love it but that rear end just didn't look right. Hoping I'll get used to it over time.

This is exactly me! I had a second look and a drive of one the other day. The drive is excellent, I can't deny that, but the whole thing just left me cold. Ignoring all the flaws of the back seats and the silly tailgate I just couldnt get excited over it, in much the same way as I can't get excited by run-of-the-mill German cars or the Discovery Sport. It just didn't feel special and is 'just a car' now so I may as well save the money and buy something cheap! I'm out!

But then I took a look at the RRS parked next to it. Wow! It was in a different league and even just sitting in it it felt special, yet it was exactly the same price as the Disco. So whilst the new discovery is a MASSIVE miss for me personally, the RRS might be an option if it's big enough.
