Suspect Brake switch

Yesterday when towing the digger it felt down on power, it seemed to rev a lot and kick down more than normal.

It felt a bit odd when maintaining a steady speed. A bit like the brakes where being touched.

I have checked
MAP
That my foot is not touching the brake peddle.

EGR are blanked and a new fuel filter was fitted a month ago.
I can't hear any air leaks under acceleration.

It doesn't do it without the trailer (at the moment ).

My thoughts are to try the brake switch first.

Thoughts anyone ?

Had a thought, I do have them occasionally, Laughing all four wheels were hot to touch the other day. They were hot enough that you couldn't hold you hand on them for more than a quick touch. As all four were the same I assumed that it was normal.

My thoughts being that binding brakes would just be one or maybe two, but not all four.

Am I right or wrong?

Doesn't sound right to me.

If all four are affected is your brake pedal sticking down? Otherwise master cylinder???

If not doing it without trailer, is car detecting over run or instability ?

Hi Dean
The wheels get hot without trailer.

But the not pulling so well is only noticeable with the trailer. But I suspect it will soon show on normal driving. That is what happened with the TC.

I can feel the trailer brakes working when braking, not sure what you mean about detecting instability. Do you think the towing program thinks there is a problem with the trailer and cuts in?

Just been out for the afternoon without the trailer and it seems fine, all four wheels were hot though. Could just about put your hand on them but it was uncomfortable.

I had obviously stopped before I tried though Laughing

Will get a cheap laser temp reader and keep an eye on the wheel temp.

I think you got this right Dean.

It has not done the power loss thing for over a week. Until I went down the same bit of road that I first noticed it on with the trailer and digger and it started to do it again. The road has a funny camber and some ruts from lorries. Once I came off that road it was fine again.

I turned around and went back down that road in the other direction and it was fine but when I came back again it started doing it again.

Well done mate Thumbs Up
